Responsibilities We provide Scientific, Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, VA. to make pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies for national security. We have an immediate need for a Sr. Scientist / Engineer in support of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office (BTO). Candidates will support the development and management of new and existing programs focused on biomedical technology for assessment and management of traumatic injury and have breadth of expertise to assess technologies across a wide range of applications. Candidates for this position will support development and management of projects that advance biotechnology innovations for battlefield injuries. Current and planned efforts include development of field-deployable non-contact technologies for injury detection and health monitoring; discovery of novel diagnostic and prognostic injury biomarkers; development and validation of machine learning models to support clinical decision-making; development of adaptive, closed-loop clinical systems to optimize patient care; biomaterial engineering for wound treatment; and development of bio-artificial blood substitutes. Ideal candidates will have experience in complex trauma, clinical and animal studies, decision support systems, machine learning, development of novel therapeutics, medical devices, nanotechnology, materials science, regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA IND), test and evaluation, and coordination of independent verification and validation. Experience in research related to human physiology and/or trauma pathophysiology is required. Excellent technical writing skills and organization are required. Candidates must be able to communicate complex scientific ideas to diverse audiences and synthesize research findings and insights across a broad range of biotechnology areas to identify opportunities for life-saving innovations, and must be able to handle a wide variety of tasks, such as briefing support and general administrative actions. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new fields and sufficient breadth of expertise to assess technologies across a range of applications. Duties will include but are not limited to:
Supporting a program(s) within the Biological Technologies Office Briefing support and general administrative actions in support of the program(s) Data analysis Travel may be required up to 10% of the time Qualifications REQUIRED
Experience:
Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Secret DoD Security Clearance. Active clearances are preferred. Ph.D. or equivalent in a field relevant to biomedical technology development. Experience in research related to human physiology and/or trauma pathophysiology is required. Excellent organization and communication are required as is the ability to coordinate disparate, parallel tasks related to different programs. Candidates must be willing to grow beyond the specialty acquired in their formal education/training via ad hoc learning of new technical domains reflective of program requirements. Candidates should be able to perform rapid review of unfamiliar technical literature to identify the state-of-art technologies, their limitations and promises, and the parties responsible for their development. A wide variety of tasks are associated with this position, including briefing support, data analysis, and general administrative duties. U.S. Citizenship required.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
