MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - LONG BRIDGE AQUATICS & FITNESS CENTER

Position Information Arlington County's Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) is seeking a self-starting and energetic Maintenance Technician to assist the General Manager in spearheading the operations of the recently opened Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center.
Located in the award-winning existing Long Bridge Park, the Center opened in Summer 2021 and is a modern aquatics and recreation facility that serves the needs of health-conscious, fun-seeking and active individuals and families.
This Maintenance Technician will provide oversight of a comprehensive indoor maintenance program to ensure the clean, and efficient operations of the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center.
This employee will build and manage relationships with contractors performing maintenance in the facility, track and order equipment as necessary, and liaise on-site with custodial staff.
Specific duties include:
Acting as liaison and providing technical guidance to maintenance contractors performing preventative or corrective maintenance in the facility including pool systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and security systems;Managing facility access and key fobs, and working directly with contracted security company to control and manage access;Performing maintenance on pool systems including regenerative media pool filters, Ultra-Violet or UV bulbs, and chemical feeding equipment;Managing the Building Automation System (BAS);Performing skilled preventative maintenance and troubleshooting inoperable or malfunctioning standard systems and equipment and identifying preventative maintenance cycles based on operator use and manufacturer's recommendations;Diagnosing, testing, and making plumbing repairs including clearing drain traps, snaking drain lines, repairing pipes and plumbing fixtures;Coordinating and conducting seasonal maintenance inspections;Performing administrative duties including inventory management and work order management in work order system (Cartegraph);Performing once-weekly whirlpool draining, and cleaning to ensure optimal efficiency and cleanliness; andPerforming ordering of facility needs including pool chemicals, pool supplies, and other needs.

For those looking to fuel their competitive side the new facility includes a 50-meter pool with 1-meter, 3-meter, and 5-meter diving, a whirlpool, and two bulkheads to create more opportunities in the pool.
The 50-meter pool is FINA compliant for long and short course competitive swimming, water polo, and synchronized swimming.
On the other side of the facility, the fun never stops in the family pool.
This pool includes a splash pad for tots, a water slide, 4-25-yard lap lanes areas for swim classes and lessons, in-water volleyball & basketball, and a lazy river.
On dry land, the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center includes an 8,000-sf.
fitness center with a variety of cardio and fitness equipment.
There is a fitness studio, three community rooms, and two wet-classrooms for fitness classes, parties, and gatherings.
Outdoors this new development includes 10.
5 acres of new parkland for casual use, the extension of the esplanade, and outdoor space for festivals and special events.

Selection Criteria Minimum:
High school diploma or GEDConsiderable experience in more than one of the following trades areas:
carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, generator, or general mechanical repairs.
Experience must have included providing guidance and/or leadership to other trades workers and/or managing trades projects.
Desirable:
Preference may be given to those with one or more of the following:
Experience managing maintenance in an aquatic environment;Experience managing a Building Automation System (BAS);Experience using a work order and inventory management systems (i.
e.
Cartegraph);Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certifications;Local Journeyman or Master Electrician License in Virginia and/or Maryland; and/orHVAC-R (VA Licensure).
