GYMNASTICS TEAMS PROGRAMS MANAGER (FULL-TIME PERMANENT)

Position Information The Department of Parks and Recreatio n is seeking an enthusiastic Gymnastics Teams Program Manager to provide leadership and administrative support, which includes managing the daily operations of competitive teams' programs such as the Arlington Aerials and Arlington Tigers.
The Arlington County Gymnastics program has something for everyone.
The program supports the competitive girls' team, the Arlington Aerials and competitive boys' team, the Arlington Tigers, and a robust recreational class program.
Our teams compete in 10 to 15 meets each season, and the class program offers over 250 classes yearly.
The program is housed in the Barcroft Sports and Fitness Center, a 30,000-sf.
facility that includes over 20,000 sf.
of gymnastics equipment.
Specific Duties:
Working alongside the Gymnastics Program Manager to schedule, plan, and execute daily team operations and ensure compliance with USA Gymnastics and SafeSport;Supporting the Gymnastics Program Manager by hiring, training, managing staff schedules, and motivating team staff; including supervising temporary (hourly) team coaches and managing performance appraisals and time keeping;Conducting bi-weekly team staff meetings and working with team coaches to ensure consistency and equity across all levels and programs which includes collaborating on scheduling staff and practices and creating and updating rotation schedules;Attending monthly AAPA (Arlington Aerials Parents Association) and ATPA (Arlington Tigers Parents Association) meetings and working with them on fundraisers and quarterly events, including being a Meet Director for home meets, and organizing Fall parents meeting and picnic, holiday party, and end of the year celebrations; Communicating regularly with team parents via in person, email, and telephone which includes sending a monthly newsletter to Tigers and Aerials families;Overseeing all aspects of the competitive season, including ordering, and tracking apparel, working with team coaches to develop a meet schedule, registering for meets in USA Gymnastics, and coordinating with the parent's association on meet payments;Processing travel requests, communicating scratches and meet schedules and staffing to coaches and parents, and responding to inquiries from meet directors prior to attending a competition;Organizing annual team tryouts and evaluations for potential new team members, including facilitating opportunities for gymnasts to get floor and beam choreography; Working with the Management Analyst to invoice the AAPA and ATPA travel expenses and billing for choreography; andPerforming other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience communicating with large and diverse groups, staying organized, managing priorities, being flexible, and motivating others.
Exercising mature judgment and sound decision-making, with advanced computer, Google Docs, and digital information management skills are essential for this position.
Selection Criteria Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree in related field; One (1) year of experience in recreation programs and activities or technical experience in gymnastics.
Technical experience may come from a variety of sources, such as work experiences, volunteer experiences or formal athletic participation.
Substitution:
Additional education may be substituted for experience or additional responsible experience may be substituted for education.
Desirable:
Preference may be given to candidates with a Master's degree in a related field and one or more of the following:
Administration of competitive team programs; Current USAG membership;Familiar with USA Gymnastics Compulsory routines; Meet Director or Choreography experience;Xcel Gold-Diamond or WDP 3-10 Coach; andPublic sector and non-profit sports programs experience.
Special Requirements Must obtain and/or maintain all required certifications including USA Gymnastics, CPR/AED, and Safe Sport.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
