ADMINISTRATIVE TECHNICIAN I

Position Information The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney for Arlington County is seeking a Administrative Technician to provide administrative support to the day-to-day operations of office paralegals and attorneys.
Specific duties include:
Providing reception support by answering incoming calls and greeting and assisting walk-in visitors;Providing paralegal administrative support to include entering new summonses and warrants into case management system, preparing witness subpoenas for delivery to the sheriff's department, and calling witnesses to notify them of changes in their court dates;Preparing and mailing out-of-district subpoenas;Distributing incoming mail;Assisting attorneys by logging and distributing incoming pleadings, motions, and orders; andReviewing documents submitted by citizens with traffic summonses or parking tickets to determine compliance and preparing legal documents (praecipes) for attorneys' signature; andAdditional duties as required.
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills to carry out their assigned tasks in a timely and complete manner as well as exceptional communication and customer service skills to work with a diverse population.
Selection Criteria Minimum:
High school diploma or GED and t wo years of progressively responsible experience providing a full range of administrative support functions.
Substitution:
Successful completion of college coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the experience requirement on the following basis:
two (2) years = six (6) months of experience.
Education may not substitute for more than 18 months of experience.
Desirables:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following
Experience:
Working in a criminal justice or court system environment;Providing direct customer service to both English and Spanish speakers;Performing paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary duties;Case and docket management; Using Prosecutor by Karpel (PBK) or similar case management software; and/orBilingual in English/Spanish.
Special Requirements A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment.

criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
