STATIONARY WATCH ENGINEER

Position Information Arlington County's Department of Environmental Services (DES) is seeking an experienced Stationary Watch Engineer to work independently monitoring, operating, and maintaining the mechanical systems in the Justice Center which houses the Arlington County Detention Facility and Courts/Police Facility to assure the safe operation of all building systems.
In addition, this employee may be called to monitor operations and make repairs to facilities at multiple sites throughout Arlington County to include Fire Stations, Community Centers and other Government facilities.
Specific duties include:
Inspecting, adjusting, troubleshooting, and performing repairs to building mechanical systems/components including the heating system, hot water boilers, steam boilers, air conditioning, ventilating and fluid systems, and component parts which include pumps, valves, pressure regulators, flow control devices, censors and other control equipment;Performing HVAC, plumbing, and minor electrical preventive maintenance;Operating equipment, monitoring building, and troubleshooting systems status using the Siemens computerized building automated controls direct digital control (DDC) system and other automated building DDC systems;Monitoring, adjusting, operating, and responding to building emergencies;Troubleshooting system/equipment problems, restoring equipment to operation, and determining resources necessary to repair building equipment; andInforming clients of building problems and repair schedules.
The employee may also perform routine preventive maintenance and is legally responsible for daily log entries on the status of the buildings and their equipment.
The employee will operate a County vehicle when there is a need to perform assigned duties away from the primary work site and will receive supervision from the Maintenance Supervisor.
Selection Criteria Minimum:
High School Diploma/GEDConsiderable responsible experience in building maintenance to include operating, maintaining, and performing corrective and preventive maintenance in a variety of building trades areas, including the following:
One year of experience operating high-pressure steam boilers; and One year of experience working on HVAC systems using computerized and digital control systems.
Possession of a District of Columbia's Stationary Engineer's 3rd Class License, or Maryland's Stationary Engineer's 1st Class License.

Desirable:
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
Resolving issues in commercial buildings such as domestic plumbing, lighting, heating and cooling conditions;Maintaining automated building systems by Siemens and/or Trane; and/orWorking with chillers and high-pressure boilers (over 100 psi) in commercial buildings.
Special Requirements Additional Requirements:
Possession of the District of Columbia's Stationary Engineer's 3rd Class License or Maryland's Stationary Engineer's License - 1st Class is a requirement for this position.
Individuals with related licenses from other jurisdictions will be considered on a case by case basis.
Applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment and maintain, a valid Driver's License.
The applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or the applicant must provide a copy of the applicant's official state/district driving record.

Working Conditions:
The worker must be available to work after hours and in emergency situations.
Work is performed as part of a 24/7 operation and the worker must be available to work shifts as necessary.
The worker performs activities inside and outside.
The worker is subject to cold (below 32 degrees) for periods of more than one hour and/or temperatures above 90 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
The worker is subject to one more of the following conditions:
Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation, oils, and other cutting fluids.
The worker frequently is in close quarters such as:
manholes, small enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and/or narrow aisles or passageways.
Work is performed as part of a 24/7 operation and the worker must be available to work shifts as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
