LEAD GYMNASTICS INSTRUCTOR (TEMPORARY)

Position Information NOTE:
This is a full-time temporary position, with an expected end date of October 2022.
Temporary employees receive full county benefits, including health and sick/vacation leave, until the end of the temporary contract.
The Department of Parks and Recreatio n is seeking an enthusiastic Lead Gymnastics Instructor to serve as a Lead Gymnastics Camp Coach.
This position will be responsible for a leadership role within our gymnastics camps by setting up stations, directing other coaches, providing customer service, and maintaining the camp schedule.
The Arlington County Gymnastics program has something for everyone.
The program supports the competitive girls' team the Arlington Aerials, a competitive boys' team, the Arlington Tigers, and a robust recreational class program.
Our teams compete in 10 to 15 meets each season, and the class program offers over 250 classes yearly.
The program is housed in the Barcroft Sports and Fitness Center, a 30,000-sf.
facility that includes over 20,000 sf.
of gymnastics equipment.
Specific duties:
Working alongside the Camp Coordinator to schedule, plan, and execute daily camp operations and ensure we are compliant with all county policies regarding camps.
Working alongside the Camp Coordinator to train and motivate camp staff.
Taking a leadership role by problem solving during camp activities to keep the campers moving and engagedCoach various levels of recreational gymnastics classes before start of summer camp (due to start in June 2022).
Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience communicating with large and diverse groups, staying organized, managing priorities, being flexible, and motivating others.
Along with exercising mature judgment and sound decision-making, with basic computer, Google Docs, and digital information management skills.
Selection Criteria Minimum:
High school diploma/GED;1200 hours of technical experience in Gymnastics (may come from a variety of sources, such as work experiences, volunteer experiences or formal athletic participation); andMust have at least 50 hours as an instructor.
Substitution:
Additional education in a related field may be substituted for the experience requirement, with each year of post-high school education substituting for 400 hours of technical experience.
However, additional education may not be substituted for the instructing hours requirement.
Desirable:
Preference may be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in a related field, and experience in one or more of the following:
Previous gymnastics camp experience;Recreational coordinator;USA Gymnastics Member club setting; andLift equipment and spotting children.
Special Requirements A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment, which may include the following:
criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history.
You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.
Must obtain and/or maintain all required certifications including USA Gymnastics, CPR/AED, and Safe Sport.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
