ZONING PLAN REVIEWER

Position Information Join our Community Planning, Housing and Developmen t (CPHD) team and play an important role in the planning and development process for Arlington County!The Zoning Plan Reviewer is a critical technical and administrative position responsible for the review of building permit plans for Special Exception projects, by-right residential and commercial developments, and ensuring compliance with special conditions.
The position coordinates with the Inspection Services Division and County agencies to ensure all information necessary for review has been supplied and shared with all reviewing and approval agencies.
Specific duties include:
Reviewing and giving approval for building permits associated with simple and complex by-right developments, including single family dwellings, town house projects, commercial developments, Accessory Dwelling Units, and for preliminary subdivision plats following verification of compliance with the Zoning Ordinance;Completing review and follow up of building permits associated with Special Exception projects including Site Plans, Use-permits and Variances;Serving as the County's coordinator throughout all phases of major construction projects to track and ensure developers comply with all permitting requirements, special conditions and other terms approved by the County Board;Attending the Plan Review Work Group, construction and developer meetings, and other work groups to include preparing status reports/comments prior to meeting and informing developer/contractor of comments during review;Reviewing wall-check plats and final survey plats of projects under construction and verifying their compliance against the original approved plans and notifying the builders and inspectors of results if a problem exists;Briefing Zoning Enforcement inspectors on site plan, use permit, and Form-Based Code conditions relative to the inspection of projects; andProviding guidance and consultation to the public and the development community on zoning and permitting issues.
Selection Criteria Minimum:
Associate degree in Architecture, Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field; andConsiderable para-professional engineering experience applying land use planning policy and/or zoning practices policy and procedures.
Substitution:
Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education requirement.
Desirable:
Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
Architectural/engineering plan examination;Zoning ordinance implementation;Construction site plan condition compliance or surveying; Understanding land development terminology; andNegotiation and conflict resolution.
Special Requirements Applicant must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid driver license at the time of appointment.
The applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or the applicant must provide a copy of the applicant's official state/district driving record.
Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record.
A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted.
It may include checks of the following:
criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history.
You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
