INTERNAL AUDIT INTERN

Arlington County is an exciting, innovative local government entity located in Northern Virginia.
We are seeking a bright, highly motivated individual for an exciting Internship in Arlington County's Department of Management and Finance is seeking a temporary, part-time intern (15-20 hours/week) to assist with Internal Audits within the County.
The Internal Audit Intern will be working under the direction of a Senior Auditor.
This position offers a career opportunity to qualified individuals with little or no previous professional work experience to help them prepare for a career in a variety of fields of work.
This internship will provide students with in-depth, hands-on learning opportunities in areas critical to supporting local government initiatives while participating in a developmental and training cohort with peers.
Specific duties include:
Developing spreadsheets for documenting the performance of audit tests to include analytical and transaction testing;Reviewing County policies and procedures for completeness;Performing tests of transactions and analytical tests and documenting results;Developing presentations for reporting audit issues and results;Managing database of audit issues and follow-up activity;Reviewing and performing data reconciliations; andResearching internal control and best practices information.
The ideal candidate will have ability to analyze information and draw logical conclusions; mathematical skills; ability to assist in project coordination; excellent communication skills, orally and in writing; and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Selection Criteria Minimum
Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled in a Master's degree program related to the internship (Business, Finance, Accounting and/or other related degree) or completed a related Bachelor's or Master's degree in 2021 or 2022.
Desirable:
Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
Enrolled or recently graduated with a graduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related study;Current enrollment or completion of accounting or finance related subjects;Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel proficiency to create and analyze databases.
Earned 3.
0 grade point average (GPA) or above.
