Corporate Counsel, Food Safety
We are looking for an exceptional, experienced regulatory and compliance attorney to support Amazon's Food Safety Operations team worldwide.
This is a unique opportunity to work globally across all Amazon's emerging and existing food business and compliance teams that work to build new processes that raise the food safety bar for our customers.
In this role, you will be responsible for counseling on food safety legal and business requirements for our private label products, Amazon Go, Amazon Fresh, and the online grocery and health and wellness categories as well as impact the development and continual improvement of our state-of-the-art food safety technology tools for use both online and in our store, including scalable solutions to farm-to-fork food traceability needs.
You will need to have high judgment and an appetite for innovation when advising internal teams on food safety regulations.
You will also be responsible for leading engagements with regulators such as the U.
S.
Food and Drug Administration, Department of Agriculture, and state and local health departments.
Successful applicants should be fast learners who are detail-oriented, customer-obsessed, able to work independently, and comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations.
They will also need to be passionate about innovation and customer safety.
Preferred location for this position is Arlington VA.
Key job responsibilitieso Providing day-to-day advice to our Amazon's Food Safety Operations team and food businesses on regulations governing the transport and sale of food from farm to fork, including laws governing food production, distribution, labeling, recalls, foodborne illnesses and allergens, and permitting; o Monitoring and advising food safety and compliance teams on upcoming regulatory changes and maintenance of existing compliance processes; o Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the Food Safety and technology teams, including those impacting food recalls; o Advising on internal processes and practices to support food safety related governance requirements and expectations; and o Serving as lead counsel in the response and resolution of food regulatory inquiries.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
