PBS LearningMedia, a partnership of PBS and the GBH Educational Foundation, is a free digital learning website and publisher of classroom resources representing the work of dozens of public media stations across the country and collaborators such as the Smithsonian Institute, NASA, Sesame Workshop, The Nature Conservancy, Latino Public Broadcasting, and many more.
The Senior Content Manager will join a team of digital content managers responsible for producing, updating, and managing the PBS LearningMedia platform, and will work closely with PBS member stations and content partners to support the creation of content, conduct editorial reviews, and supervise publication.
This position will also be responsible for managing the scheduling and maintenance of the PBS LearningMedia homepage.

The Senior Content Manager will work closely with a portfolio of PBS member stations from across the country who are producing content for the PBS LearningMedia platform.
This position is responsible for supporting and nurturing the development of high-quality content, defining success metrics, ensuring editorial best practices, and identifying opportunities for collaboration across teams and stations.
A successful candidate will have a strong background in editorial oversight, writing, and editing, with a deep understanding of content management systems and digital publishing.
They will have a knowledge of the intersection of content, design, and user experience.
They will understand basic SEO principles and metadata best practices and will not be afraid to roll up their sleeves and get to know the ins and outs of the PBS LearningMedia content management system.
To be successful in this role, a candidate must demonstrate an understanding of editorial best practices and the principles of content strategy, have a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to clear and open communication.
They will have excellent project management skills, a basic understanding of Google Analytics and the use of metrics to define and track engagement and be comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
Oversee the management of the PBS LearningMedia homepage calendar and liaise with internal teams on the marketing of new materials published to the platform Manage a portfolio of high-profile PBS member stations producing content for PBS LearningMedia Support content development and conduct editorial reviews Review content against PBS editorial and technical best practices and guidelines Develop and communicate a project pipeline, identifying launch dates, content areas in development, learning objectives to be met, and measures of success Identify new areas of content development for the platform that are aligned to content and product strategies Help stations parse data and use it to inform content choices, success measures, and overall communications Connect stations to marketing and outreach (where it makes sense) and larger initiatives Achieve a high-level of understanding of the PBS LearningMedia CMS and be able to confidently publish within it Requirements for success:
8 or more years working in a creative digital industry role as a senior editor, writer, content strategist, or producer Bachelor's degree or Master's degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience Preference for candidates with a background in digital publishing and content strategy Excellent writing and editorial skills Project management skills Strong background in editorial leadership, writing and proofreading skills, as well as experience owning editorial and technical style guides Commitment to developing content that reflects diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility standards and best practices Experience with content management systems Natural leadership skills with the experience and seniority to help define and represent team practices Proven multitasker and problem-solver, able to manage multiple projects, prioritize stakeholder needs, and meet deadlines Excellent oral and written communicator, comfortable with frequent cross-functional and senior management contact and be able to exert indirect authority over work to deliver results Experience in a publishing environment Familiarity with communication and design tools, e.
