Director, Health Equity Training Core


Summary:
The Director will work with the Senior Director to provide leadership and guidance in training and capacity building on health equity, racial equity, social justice, and other related topics internally for ASTHO staff, as well as externally for ASTHO partners and members as requested through technical assistance and grant requirements.
They provide support for the Health Equity Training Core to develop and meet the deliverables for projects that support critical issues for state health officials and their designees related to health equity and in support of ASTHO's strategic plan and policy statement.

up to $107,500 if experience exceeds expectations Principal Functions:
Direct health equity training under the leadership of the Senior Director and in collaboration with the Staff Development team Develop and manages the technical assistance (TA) process (i.
e.
, office hours, TA requests, etc.
) to support knowledge building internally for ASTHO staff and externally for ASTHO partners In partnership with the Staff Development team, coordinate organizational efforts to establish permanent structures to build capacity in advancing health equity such as leading ASTHO staff health equity workshops Assist in the identification and vetting of best and promising practices to achieve health equity Assist in the development and implementation of evaluation tools and processes to assess knowledge needs of training recipients in coordination with the Evaluation team Consult with and provide subject matter expertise to staff teams on an ongoing basis to implement consistent health equity training activities into team workplans Serves as a master trainer and works with the Learning and Distance Education team to provide train-the-trainer sessions for key ASTHO staff and partners Under the direction of the Senior Director, support the development of innovative training curricula for in-person, online, and self-guided educational modules focused on Health Equity in collaboration with the Learning and Distance Education team Represent ASTHO on internal teams and at national meetings and conferences, consistent with approved ASTHO positions and policy statements Provide fiscal oversight for cooperative agreement budgets related to health equity training and capacity building Possess ability to use ASTHO organizational management tools and software (i.

) to conduct administrative duties Function effectively in a team environment including the co-administration of cross-cutting projects with other program areas
Qualifications:
Master's degree in public health, social sciences, or other related field Five
years prior related experience Knowledge of and direct experience with health equity, racial equity, social justice concepts Extensive experience in capacity building coaching, training, facilitating, and creating health equity content for diverse audiences in hybrid and virtual settings (especially within state government) Experience creating safe environments for critical conversations/discussions Specific skills needed - technical and behavioral Understanding of governmental public health functions, systems, and infrastructure Strong knowledge and experience with engaging and effective teaching and instruction to adult learners with varying educational backgrounds Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to develop and maintain collaborative networks Ability to direct, manage and evaluate work of subordinate staff, as required by the Senior Director and Senior Vice President Ability to manage and develop multiple projects independently and in a team environment, and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner Ability to analyze state-based equity initiatives for innovative practices and translate these into synthesized products and deliverables for members, affiliates, and partners Ability and willingness to travel within service area Establish and maintain effective working relationships with members, management, coworkers, state and local officials, representatives from Capitol Hill, and the general public in accordance to ASTHO Values About Us:
