47 an hour 4 hours ago 4 hours ago 4 hours ago Position Information The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking a temporary seasonal Park Ranger Aide to help support Arlington County's Park Rangers in their mission to provide safety, security, assistance, and customer service to all patrons of Arlington County Parks.
This position will be responsible for patrolling designated Arlington County parks and providing general support to Park Rangers while walking, biking and/or driving a County vehicle for long periods of time.
Specific duties include:
Providing visitor information and programming services and clearing bike trails by moving heavy tree limbs; Ensuring park security and visitor safety in coordination with the Arlington County Police Department, Fire Department, or other appropriate County agencies; Supporting other County programs such as park maintenance, sports, and recreation; Identifying recurrent problems regarding park usage and informing appropriate parties to address; Preparing and submitting required reports and other written documents as requested, such as incident reports and daily activity logs; Removing debris from trails and reporting other safety problems to park maintenance crews; and Assisting in providing first-aid or CPR during medical emergencies.
Selection Criteria Minimum:
High School diploma/equivalent; plus Some experience in facility monitoring, assisting with recreational programs, providing customer service, or related duties.
Desirable:
Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
College degree in Recreation, Environmental Education, or related field; Administering recreational programs in a parks recreation environment; Working as a park ranger aide, naturalist, park technician, museum interpreter, or recreational leader; and Certification in First Aid/CPR/AED.
Special Requirements Will be required to working outdoors in all types of weather.
This position requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time during the work shift and will need to lift or move objects that are up to 50lbs.
Selected candidate must possess or obtain the First Aid/CPR/AED certifications within 60 days of employment.
The applicant must possess, or obtain by the time of employment, a valid driver's license, and provide a copy of or allow Arlington County to obtain a copy of the driving record.
Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record.
Additional Information Work Hours:
This is a temporary seasonal position, with various work hours depending on department needs.
Employees work approximately 30 hours a week, with majority of hours during weekends, evenings, and holidays between the hours of 11:
00 AM - 10:
30 PM.

Required to work in various Arlington Parks around the County.
The office job title is Roving Monitor.
