JOB SUMMARY
Provides clinical services at Student Counseling Services including psychological evaluations and individual/group therapy for Marymount students. Provides crisis intervention, consultation, outreach and psycho-educational programming to the Marymount community. As needed, participates in Student Counseling Services' training program for graduate trainees.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts psychological evaluations and intakes and provide short-term therapy in individual and group settings for Marymount students.
  • Maintains clinical records and necessary statistics of psychotherapeutic and other client contacts in Titanium Electronic Record System in accordance with ethical standards and guidelines.
  • Provides crisis management, triage, daytime walk-in emergency service, and assumes after-hours on-call responsibilities for daytime and evening emergency psychological services.
  • Provides supervision and training as needed for graduate trainees.
  • Provides mental health and risk management training to University staff, including campus safety, residence life staff, orientation staff, and other University faculty/staff as appropriate.
  • Consults with parents, physicians, faculty, academic deans, residence life staff, off-campus counseling services, other campus offices, and students in order to provide quality care to students.
  • Consults with psychiatrist in conjunction with prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medication for psychotherapy clients.
  • Refers to off-campus therapists, clinics, or hospitals, when appropriate. Report situations of abuse/neglect or risk to self/others to appropriate internal and external entities, in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or equivalent mental health field.
Experience
1 to 3 years of related experience. Counseling/Therapy, Crisis Intervention, and/or Community Outreach.
Licenses or Certifications
Virginia Mental Health License (social work, counseling, or psychology) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Financial Responsibility
No direct accountability for financial transactions.
Supervision
1-3 trainees.
Special Knowledge
Effective in working with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Skills in crisis intervention, outreach, presenting information, and training. Doctorate Level Psychologists with testing experience are encouraged to apply.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
