Summary
To provide economic research support to the development of an important study that highlights the success of the U.S. electric cooperative program and its role within the U.S. economy.
Purpose and Mission
Hands-on economic research to identify key theories and empirical data that help to explain the success of electric cooperatives. Understand the sources and uses of energy industry data and how rural electric co-ops fit into the electric industry and the economy as a whole. Data analysis using EXCEL, ACCESS and other specialized analytical software. Prepare written reports using WORD for use by NRECA staff and members.
Conduct economic research to address the following questions:
1. Is affordable electricity a necessary condition for economic growth?
2. Does the presence of electric cooperatives help to assure a reliable, affordable electricity supply that might not otherwise be universally available?
3. What has been the economic impact of electric cooperatives in the U.S.?
Requirements and Qualifications
This is an intern position.
3.0 or above GPA required and Must be a rising junior or senior
Dates: May 19th thru August 8th, 2014
Wages: $17 per hour

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
