Roles & Responsibilities
POLITICO is seeking a software development manager to lead, guide and manage a team of software developers in architecture, planning, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise software products and systems.
The ideal candidate will:
- Work with product owners and stakeholders to understand, gather and refine requirements.
- Translate the business needs and vision into technology solutions that scale technically and operationally across all the properties.
- Set short-term and long-term goals and manage day-to day activities of development teams within an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Report on status of development, quality, operations and performance to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Basic
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 8
years of experience in application development and integration (building products end to end).
- 5
years of experience managing people, leading teams and owning products.
- Knowledge of PHP 5.3+, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Ajax, MySQL, MongoDB and Web Development.
- Knowledge of design patterns and how to build scalable applications.
- Strong analytical, product and project management skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast moving, high visibility environment working with new technologies and facing new challenges daily.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Masters in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- Proven track record of managing product development teams on complex web or mobile development
- Experience identifying, hiring and developing top talent.
- Demonstrated ability to create, manage, and drive project plans.
- Strong leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and have a consistent track record of delivery.
- Strong background in Agile Development Methodologies (Scrum)
- Experience in large-scale and high-volume news media applications.
