Mission Statement The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement, as required for the people, facilities, infrastructure and other resources at the Pentagon Reservation and Department of Defense (DoD) activities and DoD-leased facilities not under the jurisdiction of a Military Department within the National Capital Region (NCR) (hereinafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities"). This includes addressing the full spectrum of threats to the Pentagon Facilities by utilizing a balanced strategy of prevention, preparedness, detection, response, crisis management and consequence management. The PFPA is the DoD focal point for coordination with other DoD components, other Executive Departments and Federal Agencies, state, and local authorities on matters involving force protection, security, and law enforcement activities that impact the Pentagon Facilities.

This is a term position NTE to 2 years; may be extended to the limit of 4 years. This position is at the will of the agency and may be terminated at any time during the duration of the appointment.
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Application materials must be received by 11:59PM EST on the closing date. As aLaw Enforcement Policy Analyst you will be responsible for the following duties:
Serve as Law Enforcement (LE) Policy Analyst and consultant for the PFPA Policy Office addressing a broad spectrum of topics ranging from national security policy, emerging doctrine and issues, organizational design, force structure and management, and congressional activities.
Serve as subject matter expert for LE policies and analysis.
Provide rapid executive level analysis and support in response to questions or requests for independent perspective.
Recommend studies to be conducted for the Agency by contractor organizations and serve as a resource to study the effort based on an in-depth understanding of the Pentagon's current and future force protection challenges.
Maintain a constant awareness of LE and security issues and positions, national and international, in order to provide timely and informed advice and analysis to Agency officials.
Collaborate with senior OSD and DA& M Staff in the development of Department issuances (DoD instructions, directives, and manuals.
Prepare the Supervisory Plans Officer, Chief PPD, Deputy Directors and Director for participation in senior level conferences and meetings.

Specialized experience required for this position is:

Serves as a subject matter expert on Law Enforcement (LE) techniques, tactics, and procedures
Present analysis using studies and oral presentations on a variety of subjects such as strategic planning, personnel management, force structure, organizational design, resource management as it relates to Law Enforcement or Security Areas.
Develop and interpret security guidelines, policies, and regulations regarding LE and security operations.
Analyze information from a variety of sources to enable the management to discern key facts and issues that impact Emergency management, law enforcement and security areas.
Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:
1. Skill in applying analytical and evaluation methods and techniques to a broad range of Law Enforcement (LE), emergency management, and security area
2. Extensive knowledge of law enforcement techniques, tactics, and procedures
3. Ability to communicate with top-level security officials, senior-level management and local, state, and federal officials
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for merit promotion consideration. Time-in-grade is the 52-week requirement Federal employees in competitive service, General Schedule (GS) positions at GS-5 and above must serve before they are eligible for promotion (advancement) to the next grade level. The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION CRITICAL EMPLOYEE.
