The Lead Storage System Administrator will be responsible for the following:
Strong technical background in technical systems/environments with experience in operations, support and infrastructure
Ability to multi-task and persevere in a dynamic environment while maintaining a sense of urgency
Maintains production enterprise storage solutions and supporting infrastructure and software
Administer and provide operational support for SAN & backup infrastructure
Responsible for performance data gathering and provide reporting
Administer fabric zoning. Hands-on experience with Brocade SAN switches
Capable of Storage capacity planning and management
Hands-on experience with Netapp Filers
Hands-on experience with EMC VNX arrays
Hands-on experience with EMC VMAX arrays
Knowledge of PURESTORAGE
Working knowledge of replication technologies - BCV, SRDF, RecoverPoint
Hands-on experience with DataDomain
Hands-on experience with Veritas Netbackup 7.x with NDMP features
Deep understanding of vmware datastores and VMDK backups
Administrative experience with Windows 2008/2012 servers. LINUX/UNIX is a plus
The Lead Storage System Administrator must have the following skills:
Adapt to changes in the work environment. Manage competing demands. Change approach or method to best fit the situation. Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected production outages
Incorporates disk, SAN, Fiber Switches, Fabric zoning and storage software
Identify and help resolve storage, media short falls
Alert and resolve performance issues and advise end users
Provide High availability of data to all applications
Data restorations
Configure and manage backup tape library units and disk based backup targets
Manage integration with SAN setup
Application support
Work with application developers to determine backup requirements
Work with existing Developers, System Administrators and DBAs to optimize backup window and media usage
Monitor existing SAN & backup environment
Disk and Tape usage
Performance
Storage availability
Reporting on status
Responsible for planning and execution of the backup installation
Perform any host-level tasks needed to have a successful backup
Capacity planning
Forecast future media requirement - both tape and backup disks
The Lead Storage System Administrator must meet the following
Qualifications:
Requires hands on experience with SAN and backup technologies listed in technical qualifications.
This is a 24x7x365 Operations role. Weekends, nights, and holidays are necessary at times.
Must be able to obtain required clearance.
