Assistant Controller/Corporate VP Accounting

Job Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION The Assistant Controller is primarily responsible for managing the following:
monthly financial close process, while possessing a comprehensive knowledge of the company's operations and IT systems.
Coordinate with international accounting and finance teams on general ledger accounting function and operations
Accounts Payable operations, focusing on process improvement, ensuring compliance with control objectives including vendor selection and monitoring, leveraging system automation process.
Accounts Receivable operations, ensuring timely and quality of billings, collection and cash application while focusing on continued process improvement and efficiency
Joint Venture/Owner Accounting.With the assistance of JV/Owner Accounting Director, ensure quality close of JV/Books, working with VP Operations in meeting owner/JV partners' investor and debt reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee monthly financial close process (delegation of duties and detail review of certain account reconciliations)
Establish and maintain standard practices for accounting workpapers preparation and presentation
Key expert on accounting/financial systems including process design and implementation
Work closely with the SVP Tax and the tax team in managing the monthly tax close process and recording financial statements impact of periodic tax provision update analysis
Actively interfacing with other departments to address process breakdowns which lead to errors or misstatements in the financials
Hire, train, mentor and develop accounting staff
Core Competencies
Must possess a solid working knowledge of GAAP
Effective leadership and management skills-experience leading a large, diverse team
Highly skilled in process improvement
Hands on accountant who is equally comfortable working on the day-to-day details and on top level review, analysis, and reporting
Solution oriented problem solver; self-starter; highly motivated
Must have experience with Microsoft Office and with computer accounting and ERP systems; Lawson system knowledge a plus.
Excellent planning, communication and organizational skills required
Strong oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in leading presentations
Strong computer skills, working knowledge of all common office applications, ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
Qualifications/Education:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting
CPA designation preferred
At least 8-10 years of solid accounting experience
Both public and private accounting experience in a large corporation is preferred
5+ years of personnel management

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
