PTL Integration and Systems Engineer

Overview:
The Personnel Tracking & Locator (PTL) Integration and Systems Engineer will work within the Continental United States (CONUS) command center with Diplomatic Security (DS/C/ST), Embassy personnel overseas and provide technical guidance on both the PTL tracker hardware and monitoring software. The PTL program will operate 24 hours a day/7 days a week, with 40 hour a week shift. The PTL Integration and Systems Engineer may be required to travel to multiple overseas theaters in potentially high-threat environments and may be required to deploy TDY to these locations worldwide.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assesses current PTL technical architecture and applications supporting operations; providing recommendations regarding technical architecture modernization; supporting establishment of PTL Testing and Training domains within Department of State (DoS) network; integrating new PTL technology into DoS architecture, networks, and systems; interfacing with other US Government Agencies and Departments; and, developing and implementing the ability to exchange tracking data, information and techniques. Must be able to clearly communicate and depict architectural designs, underlying principles, and implementation effects.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor?s Degree or advanced degree in Computer Science, Technology or other related fields or equivalent work experience.
Must be familiar with industry standards and best practices (e.g. SOA principles, World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Must possess at least five years of integration and systems engineering experience in the tracking mission area/domain (e.g. Friendly Force Tracking/Blue Force Tracking or Tagging, Tracking and Locating).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent time management, planning and interpersonal skills.

Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems and office automation software (e.g., Microsoft Office, SharePoint).

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee must be able to stand, walk and sit for a prolonged period of time; use hands and/or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close and distant vision. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Medical conditions or physical impediments may disqualify candidates from overseas work where comprehensive medical care may be limited or unavailable, or where the condition or impediment would put the individual at unacceptable risk. Duties may be performed in an active combat zone where the employee would be required to seek shelter. There may be stress, psychological and physical hardships, and the possibility of living in field conditions associated with this position.
Travel:
Required to travel OCONUS for training, surge support, and to provide short term backfill for overseas Watch Stander positions. OCONUS travel may include critical threat locations around the world with austere living conditions. Domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination.
Work Environment:
Full-time, 40+ hour week while Domestic. Overseas travel is usually under hazardous conditions when deployed in a theater of operations. Personnel meeting the provisions of Department of State Standardized Regulations, Chapter 650 ? Danger Pay Allowance, and performing in a location determined a hazardous duty area are eligible to receive uplift pay over basic compensation.
Living Environment: When deployed overseas, lodging, meals, medical and basic life support services will be provided while in a theater of operations, as well as the prevailing per diem rate for incidental expenses (I&E;).
Work Location:
The stateside work location will be in Sterling, VA and DOS Annexes in Arlington and/or Springfield, VA. The location of high-risk environments will be disclosed upon interview.
Citizenship/Security Clearance/Passport: The candidate must be a US citizen and possess an active TOP SECRET security clearance with immediate eligibility to be granted access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI). Must be eligible for and able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance/access approvals; and must be able to obtain and maintain a US passport.
Medical Clearance:
Must be able to obtain / maintain a DoS Class 1 medical clearance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
