PTL Domestic Support Team Specialist - PTS

Overview:
The Personnel Tracking & Locator (PTL) Domestic Support Team Specialist provides logistical support for all levels of PTL programs to include planning current and future PTL system/hardware requirements in order to ensure consistent operation and availability. The PTL Domestic Support Team Specialist may be required to test PC monitoring stations and be able to fully maintain, troubleshoot and install these systems in a tactical environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise the processing, packing and shipment of PTL systems and fly ?away kits a requirement. Assists testing vendor repaired items to verify that they are operational prior to returning said items to the field. Identifies replenishment requirements and recommends upgrades and/or enhancements to maximize effectiveness and functionality of PTL hardware/software. Assists with integration requirements determination, overall architectural design, planning, system specifications development, system design-analysis, testing, documentation, extension, and installation of information systems. Perform a variety of network management functions in support of services related to the operation, performance or availability of data communications networks. Modifies command language programs, network start-up files, assign /re-assign network parameters to improve performance and participates in load balancing efforts throughout the network to achieve optimum performance.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor?s Degree plus ten years of experience preferred; High School Diploma plus fifteen years of experience can substitute for a Bachelor?s Degree. Minimum 5 years professional work experience in a military or government environment is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have technical expertise in the technologies required for assigned team (e.g., software development, computer systems architecture, COMSEC, inventory and logistics, tactical tracking operations, RF network engineering, Integrated Broadcast System applications, Mission Management Center operations, and/or integrated protective security operations.
Ability to communicate and coordinate actions effectively with individuals at all organizational and management levels, including other agencies outside of the department.
Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under minimal supervision.
Must demonstrate the ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner.
Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a cohesive team.
Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have strong attention to detail.
Must possess excellent writing and verbal skills.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Windows operating systems and office automation software (e.g., Microsoft Office, SharePoint).
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee must be able to stand, walk and sit for a prolonged period of time; use hands and/or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close and distant vision. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Medical conditions or physical impediments may disqualify candidates from overseas work where comprehensive medical care may be limited or unavailable, or where the condition or impediment would put the individual at unacceptable risk. Duties may be performed in an active combat zone where the employee would be required to seek shelter. There may be stress, psychological and physical hardships, and the possibility of living in field conditions associated with this position.
Travel:
Domestic travel may be required.
Work Environment:
Full-time, 40+ hour week while Domestic. Overseas travel is usually under hazardous conditions when deployed in a theater of operations. Personnel meeting the provisions of Department of State Standardized Regulations, Chapter 650 ? Danger Pay Allowance, and performing in a location determined a hazardous duty area are eligible to receive uplift pay over basic compensation.
Living Environment: When deployed, lodging, meals, medical and basic life support services will be provided while in a theater of operations, as well as the prevailing per diem rate for incidental expenses (I&E;).
Work Location:
The stateside work location will be in Sterling, VA and DOS Annexes in Arlington and/or Springfield, VA. The location of high-risk environments will be disclosed upon interview.
Citizenship/Security Clearance/Passport: The candidate must be a US citizen and possess an active TOP SECRET security clearance with immediate eligibility to be granted access to sensitive compartmented information (SCI). Must be eligible for and able to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance/access approvals; and must be able to obtain and maintain a US passport.
Medical Clearance:
Must be able to obtain / maintain a DoS Class 1 medical clearance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
