Created after 9-11-2001, the Department of Homeland Security consolidated numerous agencies' data centers for central management. CSRA plays a key role in the Department's IT integration strategy. Essential Job Functions
Participates in client/project meeting(s) for highly complex project definition, needs assessment and design review. Evaluates the needs and requirements of the users and provides technical expertise in the development of technical, structural and organizational specifications. Determines appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization.
Designs, develops, and integrates highly complex database systems for internal and external users/clients.
Creates, documents and implements standards and/or complex modeling to monitor and enhance the capacity and performance of the database. Codes complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms. Designs user interfaces and business application prototypes.
Performs complex analyses and reviews applications being released into production. Develops and oversees the implementation of test application code in client server environments to ensure that software conforms to build management practices.
Remains abreast of and analyzes new and emerging technologies and tools for applicability to field. Prepares recommendations and presentation to management.
Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business administration, software engineering or related field preferred
Nine or more years of database engineering, design, development experience
Experience working with relational data modeling
Experience working with data warehousing
Experience working with relational databases such as SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, etc.
Experience working with database development methodologies, design and implementation

Strong communication skills
Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills
Strong, demonstrated skills in using a Windows development language, programming or scripting such as VBScript, COM, COM+, XML, Java, Perl, etc.

Ability to comprehend and integrate business unit/client needs into appropriate database system

Evaluating and analyzing SQL statements for trouble shooting and root cause analysis
SQL Trace/Explain plans
Analyzing the current data environment, providing an assessment status and produce a road map to create and maintain the proper architecture documents or familiarity with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM)
Knowledge of creating and maintaining Tables, Partitioning, indexes, Triggers, stored procedures, etc. in a large terabyte database environment.
Generating and maintaining data dictionaries
Coordinating new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure
Software design and development experience with lrge scale enterprise applications in an Agile/Scrum environment - combination of custom and COTS software

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
