The Reporter Producer, Online will serve as an integral member of the _PBS NewsHour_?s Online unit while also working with the Segment Production Unit. The editorial focus of this role will be on a broad range of topics, with an emphasis on Arts.
Report and write news-driven, well-told and crafted stories for NewsHour_ website and associated digital content.
Manage online editorial content vertical, creating original text and multi-media content and coordinating regular contributors, features and columns.
Contribute and support development and production of broadcast content for the _PBS NewsHour_, working with colleagues both in the newsroom and in the field.
Conduct research and interviews.
Collaborate with overall news staff in planning daily coverage and developing future stories, contributing creative ideas and spirited teamwork.
Perform related special projects or other duties as assigned
Demonstrated ability to create and manage fresh, compelling news and feature content for the web.
Superior writing skills, under deadline pressure, for both short turn-around news items and longer term feature content.
Some expertise, knowledge and sources around a variety of topic areas, including arts.
Experience with multi-media and broadcast video production is a plus.
Candidates should be comfortable working in an online production environment using standard and cutting edge publishing tools and social media platforms.
Ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom setting and adjust smoothly to changing assignments.
Ability to work closely with colleagues in a collaborative manner under deadline.
Excellent organizational, project planning, presentation and time management skills with careful attention to detail needed.
Experience editing video.
Bachelor?s degree preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in online journalism, preferably for a national outlet.
Or equivalent combination of training and experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
