The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a Project Business Manager I in our Arlington, VA office.
This position sets a financial strategy/approach for multiple Transportation projects, including but not limited to, cost accounting and financial management oversight and reporting, utilizing HNTB's Project Management System during a project's start up, and ongoing involvement during the project's life cycle as needed based on project specific requirements. Design fees for these projects may range from $2.5MM to +$10MM. Through implementation of best business practices in alignment with firm's policies and standards of performance, this role will provide critical financial leadership and oversight throughout the project lifecycle to an appropriate degree.
Leads project specific development of financial strategies and reporting/project accounting/cost control/scheduling/invoicing procedures and the Project Management/Financial/Work Plan related to the engineering design portion of complex multimodal Transportation projects.
Directs and participates in the development and initial build of project financial burn/revenue analysis, project labor forecasts, inter-office agreements, subconsultant agreements, cash management forecasts, and month-end reporting and revenue recognition activities.
Creates, coordinates, edits and publishes guidelines, manuals, and document SOPs with the project's business staff for use by project staff including the Project Management Plan, Project Review Action Plan, Project Financial Work Plan, Travel and Expense Guidelines, and Monthly Project Progress Reports (Invoicing).
Oversees development of project schedule and coordinates preparation and analysis of schedule baseline, progress schedule reporting, specialty schedules, schedule analysis that tie to the HNTB PM System financial reporting and other compliance related requirements.
Analyzes variances in cost and schedule against the estimates and schedule and communicates reasons for variances to the project team, division, and geographic leadership. Identifies trends and deviations and has the financial acumen to recommend solutions or recovery plans for multiple financial scenarios related to project performance.
Provides oversight and guidance (reviewing for accuracy/clarity) to the project and office business teams through the preparation of financial, cost control, schedule material for internal and external meetings. This includes providing appropriate financial documentation, data analysis, and reports to assist in the project management and dissemination of information/reports/deliverables to the key stakeholders.
Supervises the project's document control efforts including the administration, filing, and archiving of engineering, procurement, and construction documents, reports, deliverables, invoices, and other business policies and procedures. This effort includes electronic sharing of documents between the HNTB and the Client.
Leads the project's financial communication including but not limited to the Senior Management Review Meetings and the Monthly Business Activity Meetings.
Coordinate the project's cost estimating efforts to include preparation of cost report templates and monthly Cost and Change Management report deliverables.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Civil Engineering, or Construction Science
6-9 years minimum Financial Experience in Engineering, Architecture, Contractor project financial controls
Master's preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
