Overview
The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB Corporation is currently seeking a Roadway Construction Inspector II in our Arlington, VA office.
Under guidance and direction of the Resident Engineer, is responsible for daily inspection efforts on complex and/or diverse projects that require construction experience in the construction of roadways and bridges, and performs a variety of assignments.
Responsibilities
Responsible for providing daily inspection of construction work within a given discipline/trade to ensure that the project construction complies with plans and specifications and the client's interests are protected.
Maintain daily logs of inspection work and reviews discrepancies or changes with Field Engineer.
Prepare daily work reports, including quantities for payment, contractor personnel and equipment utilized.
Perform quality assurance testing and sampling in accordance with specifications.
Monitor work of contractors.
Keep superiors advised of problem areas.
Ensure that work conforms to plans and specifications.
Provide effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives in performance & compliance to Plans and Specifications.
Perform standard mathematical calculations.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. Four year degree strongly preferred.
At least 1 year construction related experience on large scale projects
Driver's License
Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience working on VDOT projects; prior experience in the Hampton Roads District preferred
Working knowledge of VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Road and Bridge Standards, Construction Manual and Inspector Manual
Preferred certifications:
ACI
DCR Erosion and Sediment Control
OSHA 10 Hour Safety Training
Nuclear Gauge Safety Training
VDOT Asphalt Field
VDOT Flagger
VDOT Guardrail (GRIT)
VDOT Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field
VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control
VDOT Pavement Marking
VDOT Slurry Surface
VDOT Soils & Aggregate

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
