User Experience Designer
Job Summary
We currently have an outstanding opportunity for a senior position on the Global UX team, dedicated to Hobsons R&D (Research & Development, to create new product experiences for Hobsons. This includes advocating and leading a user-centered discovery process, serving as a point person for concepts and prototypes that will improve the experience of our products, and providing valuable solutions to students and education professionals. The User Experience Designer serves as an expert across the various disciplines of user experience, including user research, information architecture, interaction design, content, analytics and accessibility.
This position will be located in: Arlington, VA (Clarendon Metro).
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Work on various projects for the R&D team, designing multiple concepts quickly for early validation and immediate iteration based on findings
Occasionally go offsite or lead sessions with users to understand usability pain points, and quickly document assessments to share with the team
Master understanding of other Naviance product design and functionality in order to keep consistency among our products, but still push forward-thinking suggestions to the rest of the UX and R&D teams
Prototype recommendations in the form of wireframes and high fidelity prototypes as appropriate. Review prototypes with other team members, stakeholders, and clients.
Advocate and conduct user research activities, including usability testing, heuristic evaluations, user interviews and persona development
Lead development and socialization of user archetypes, including personas, or contribute to existing ones as appropriate
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to understand business and user needs, as well as technical capabilities.
Work with engineering peers through implementation when appropriate to ensure the desired user experience is carried through the development cycle
Serve as UX representative for high profile projects and cross-departmental meetings
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in user experience, interaction design, information architecture or related field, or equivalent years of related experience is required
3-6 years of UX experience with web sites and/or web applications/architectures
Education industry experience preferred
Portfolio, or examples showcasing experience, in planning and creating intuitive digital experiences
Understanding of usability and responsive design best practices
Ability to own and articulate design decisions
Proficiency with prototyping tools such as Sketch, Balsamiq, Axure, InVision, Photoshop
Knowledge with HTML5, CSS a plus
Ability to collaborate with others
Basic understanding of product development and sales cycle
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
