Through the GLOBE (Growing Leaders on Behalf of the Environment) internship program. The Nature Conservancy hires undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent college graduates (2015, 2016, and 2017) to fill paid internship positions during a 10-week summer internship. Our mission is to provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and the real-world conservation work that contributes to the health and sustainability of our world. The GLOBE Program recruites individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences who are interested in contributing to our conservation goals in various fields. The GLOBE Program offers a structured orientation, professional training, network opportunities, mentoring program, and real work experience.
This project requires data analysis be performed on Global Network Operations (GNO) managed storage devices as well as researching and applying firmware updates to same. GNO manages approximately 100 data storage devices that will be part of this project. The data storage devices are a mix of Windows and Linux servers, in addition to NAS devices
GNO will provide training for server related tasks, so server administration experience is not required. This opportunity will provide experience with intermediate server administration tasks in a remote environment. Working in a diverse environment with many remote offices can prove challenging and this a great opportunity for a GLOBE Intern to gain experience with communicating and coordinating with widely distributed colleagues.
Intern will be responsible for installing and configuring data analysis software on Windows servers and Windows PC?s.
Intern will be responsible for using the data analysis software to run data reports, export reports to Excel spreadsheets and save reports on Box.
Intern will be responsible for using Excel spreadsheets to perform an analysis of TNC data storage trends, including average age of files,
average amount of duplication, data categories (type of data), average file sizes, etc.
Intern will be responsible for using our server management software tools to determine which servers require firmware updates, what updates should be applied and downloading and installing required firmware updates.
The installation of firmware updates will require the Intern to communicate with onsite staff (TISOM's) at each server locale to coordinate the installation of firmware updates, thus ensuring minimal impact to staff.
Intern will be responsible for creating list of performed firmware updates with upgrade details included.
Enrolled in an undergraduate program, graduate program, or a recent graduate (within two years of graduating from an undergraduate or graduate program) for Business, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent
Completion of The Nature Conservancy?s LEAF internship program
Proficiency with basic Windows Operating System functions; how to use a Windows PC (not server) at an advanced level is a must.
Proficiency in Excel, such as creating and editing spreadsheets, creating charts and performing basic calculations in Excel is a must.
Proficiency in communication with a diverse set of peers.
Experience with customer service skills.
Proficiency in Internet navigation.
Ability to work effectively with a distributed team where most colleagues and direct supervisor are not co-located.
This is a full-time, temporary internship position with a position term of June 5th ? August 11, 2017.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
