Senior Epic Cadence Applications Analyst

Purpose and Scope
The Sr. Cadence Applications Analyst III is responsible for achieving in-depth knowledge of Epic System's Cadence software and serves as a liaison between end users and the Epic implementation staff. Conducts regular day-to-day communication with Epic's installation team, reviews the software, analyzes business operations, and works with the Epic team, project team(s), business representatives, subject matter experts, and end users to tailor the system to fit the organization's needs. The Analyst routinely performs in-depth analyses of workflows, data collection, and other technical issues and is responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that are used in conjunction with Epic's applications and designs, builds, tests, installs and maintains those solutions.
The Sr. Epic Cadence Application Analyst III provides technical application support for complex Epic applications and other third party applications. Plans and prepares Cadence test scripts for application testing, integration testing and user acceptance testing.
Position Requirements
Solid understanding of the operational practices of scheduling and payer authorization and knowledge of areas that integrate with scheduling, including check-in, registration, benefits, referrals, and orders. Strong project management and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate, lead team meetings, and formally present information to project leadership, subject matter experts, project teams, and stakeholders and also must possess strong follow up skills, strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated experience and proven expertise in problem-solving and debugging techniques.
Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a health, science, or business field, or an equivalent level of professional experience required. Master's degree preferred.
6 years industry related experience in a IS/Clinical setting (Healthcare/Health Services, or Information Services) or within applicable area in healthcare operations, with a minimum 5 years progressively responsible experience in information applications, including performing programming or applications analysis, or equivalent (such as business analysis). A thorough understanding of hospital inpatient and/or outpatient clinic operations is highly desirable.
3 years or more solid experience working on an Epic Cadence application and configuration with success and taking Cadence from build to 'go live' is highly desirable.
Demonstrated experience and proven expertise in problem-solving and debugging techniques.
Certification
Existing Epic certification in appropriate module(s) is preferred. Epic certification is required within 9 months from hire.
Skills and Knowledge
Advanced understanding in the development and/or maintenance of Electronic Medical Record Systems.
Proficient in all aspects of design, development and testing and best practices of enterprise application implementations.
Knowledge of Epic's implementation processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of Epic Cadence, Cadence Build, Epic Scheduling, and must be able to design, document and develop functional and technical specifications.
Familiar with all phases of testing: unit/functional, integration and user acceptance testing.
Knowledge of health care operations and structure, and use of information system applications in a practicing health care environment is desired. Thorough understanding of hospital inpatient, clinic and outpatient operations.
Proficient in complex troubleshooting and problem solving, performing root cause analysis on development and production support related issues.
Understanding of the technical aspects of applications and integrated tools used to complete the business cycle.
Ability to acquire knowledge through research or self-training where needed for effective implementation.
Ability to identify key business processes to validate and or re-engineer for optimum integration with Epic modules.
Demonstrated ability to apply business analysis tools and plan and manage actions in response to changing business needs.
Ability to provide subject matter expertise in relationship to applications supported.
Ability to independently prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and/or priorities.
Able to teach application functionality, design standards and process changes to the end user community and train the trainer. Ability to perform and teach analysis and problem solving principles with emphasis on user relations, data gathering techniques, and management information applications to IT staff is required.
Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
Effective customer service skills, with the ability to work with all levels within the organization.
Ability to teach a team of analysts, end users and consultants the skills required to coordinate daily activities, delegate responsibilities and also reviews/validate work performed.
Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to advise and consult with users and make formal presentations of project findings and recommendations.
Excellent organization skills; demonstrates confidence and creativity.
Adheres to applications security and control procedures in accordance with departmental, vendor standards and regulatory bodies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Performs complex analysis, design, development, testing and support services for assigned application applications.
Provides complex application support and guidance to end users and provides technical guidance to less experienced personnel. Serves as point of contact for resolution of complex application problems. Able to quickly assess problems and identify resolutions.
Coordinates development of application testing scripts and conversion plans. Conducts all phases of testing: unit/functional, integration and user acceptance tests. Collaborates with other Application Analysts to build test plans for integration testing. Works with project and infrastructure teams to manage and maintain test environments as needed.
Makes recommendations and provide alternatives with regards to various development and support initiatives and the integration/relationship between and among organizational applications.
Prepares and validates complete applications documentation for operations. Prepares written documentation of various types: application documentation, functional specifications, training manuals, status reports, etc. Creates, evaluates and instructs/teaches other.
Provides input and assists with the development of departmental policies and procedures as they relate to the use of various assigned applications.
Participates and/or leads projects, estimates costs, time frames, staffing requirements and prepares cost justifications for assigned project. Uses status reports for project oversight.
Validates the designing of each application assigned, under the control of the change management application and user development request.
Communicate with internal and external installation and support teams, reviewing software upgrades, software testing analysis, analyzing business operations and workflows, and working with vendors and end users to tailor systems to organizational needs.
Conducts and/or participates in in-service and various educational programs for professional development. Orients, mentors, and transfers knowledge to staff.
Resolves user issues.
Audits the work of less senior Cadence Application Analyst'. Trains and mentors Cadence Application Analysts.
Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
Maintains up-to-date Cadence certification.
On call support on a rotating schedule.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
