Retail Research Leader - Senior Manager
Deloitte Services LP is initiating a recruiting process for a Research Lead to work in the Center for Industry Insights (the Center) serving Deloitte's leadership in providing professional services to commercial and public Consumer & Industry Products (C&IP) clients. Deloitte works with clients to address a range of critical issues brought on by competition, globalization, advances in technology, regulatory changes, and the changing demands of C&IP stakeholders.
Work You'll Do
The Retail Research Lead will be responsible for designing, executing, analyzing and interpreting best-in class quantitative and qualitative research methodologies focusing on the Retail sector. The Research Lead will partner with other Center team members and will work directly with the Retail sector practice leadership to oversee and execute research studies and write thought leadership. These include white papers, in-depth research reports, client presentations, case studies, articles, etc. which integrate information from a wide range of primary and secondary sources, including surveys, third-party research, analyst reports, presentations, industry commentaries, news articles, etc.
Work with the C&IP leadership team to develop the thought leadership research agenda for the Retail sector
Develop, manage and execute complex research projects focused on topics related to specific sectors, such as Retail, and broader C&IP industry issues
Development of research proposals through collaboration with C&IP Center leadership, including design of original research study proposal and research plan involving sound and sophisticated research methods
Lead the team of researchers working on Retail projects, providing both project management and mentoring and development of the individuals
Design and execution of in-depth primary and secondary research to form or support the hypotheses, including complex quantitative and qualitative data analysis, case study development, survey design and analysis, and interviewing senior executives
Execute and interpret advanced statistical analyses to confirm or deny the primary research hypotheses as well as to disentangle underlying key drivers of results
Writing of original research reports, case studies, viewpoints and articles targeted executive level audiences and senior level management, within the Retail industry as well as adjacent management and policy publications
Development of presentations summarizing insights and recommendations to brief executives and practitioners at the internal and external events
Collaboration with marketing and publishing team to deploy research findings at clients, through proposals, and briefings
Partner with other research teams and client service professionals across the firm
Manage key relationships and project deliverables with internal stakeholders and outside vendors to support the development and deployment of the C&IP research agenda
Manage and coach junior analysts and managers to design and execute research studies
The Team
The C&IP Center for Industry Insights is the research and marketing science arm of Deloitte LLP. The Center's purpose and goals are to develop, execute, analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative research that will inform all stakeholders in the industry about emerging trends, challenges, opportunities and key recommendations that will address current business problems and answer clients pressing challenges. Through our research publications, industry roundtables and other distribution channels that engage executive-level clients, we aim to be a trusted source for relevant, timely and reliable industry and market insights. Deloitte's C&IP industry practice provides consulting, assurance and advisory, tax, and enterprise risk services to stakeholders in the sectors of aerospace & defense, automotive, consumer products, process & industrial products, retail & distribution, and travel, hospitality, leisure & services.
10+ years in industry roles or consulting within at least one C&IP industry sector, preferably a strong background in retail channels (e.g., big box, online).
Strong track record with previous employment
Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in analytical software such as SAS, SPSS, R, and etc.
Excellent written and verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. An ideal candidate will have published in leading industry and/or market research journals
A strong understanding of business issues facing the Retail sector such as:
Emerging trends and disruptive technologies impacting the C&IP and retail industries
Key business issues including strategy, research and development, innovation, tax, mergers and acquisition, customer strategy, financial and performance management, IT strategy
High level understanding of industry regulatory structure and regulations
Strong personnel management and mentoring skills and the ability to effectively direct and motivate project teams
Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills
Competency in working with a cross functional and virtual teams
MBA, PhD, or Master's degree in market research, quantitative psychology, psychometrics, industrial and organization psychology, consumer insights, economics or other social science -related disciplines
Previous employment with market research organizations, consulting firms, think tanks, academia, focused research institutes, corporate strategy or research divisions

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
