Overview
Our practice in the Mid-Atlantic focuses on a range of civil engineering services including highways, bridges, tollways, rail, aviation, construction inspection and management, environmental planning, project controls, program management, and community planning services.
The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a Roadway Design Project Manager II in our Arlington, VA office to support our growing transportation practice.
Responsibilities
This position is an excellent opportunity to join our multidisciplinary team located in the Arlington, Virginia office. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the following:
Prepare and complete multidisciplinary engineering designs that are responsive to project needs including the production of roadway plans, quantities, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
Coordinate preparation of design details, design calculations, plans, and drawings within assigned technical disciplines.
Coordinate design development and/or assist in providing technical direction regarding the scope of projects, technical approach, and design criteria;
Provide senior-level technical expertise on projects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contracts for construction.
Perform investigative hand- and computer-based analyses in support of assigned design tasks or overall project delivery;
Review and check engineering work products completed by others through application of a standardized QA/QC program;
Provide and/or participate in construction-phase services including but not limited to shop drawing review, responses to RFIs, public outreach, monitoring and inspection;
Work closely with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
Coordinate with clients to define work programs and budgets, provide leadership in project planning and strategy including general oversight and planning, project management, project implementation, and ensuring quality of work products.
Participate in professional activities to develop and maintain client relationships, and advance the strategic interests of HNTB.
Participate and be responsible for business development and sales activities to support the strategic goals of the Arlington Office.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
12 years of roadway design experience
Master's degree a plus
Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia required, or ability to acquire licensure within 30 days of hire
Experience working with VDOT required
Experience working on large Department of Transportation (DOT) projects required
Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
Experience managing large transportation projects in excess of $5M in fee
Scope/schedule/fee development and management experience
Design-Build experience and DBIA certification preferred
Proficiency in Microstation required, GEOPAK and InRoads design software experience a plus
Strong written and oral communications skills required
An ideal candidate is someone who can:
Direct a team of professionals and sub-consultants to provide consulting engineering services with limited direction;
Directly engage with clients to develop and negotiate scope and fee on task orders and stand-along projects.
Work with clients to resolve challenges around the development of project planning and construction documents.
Ability to work on behalf of a client during the construction phase to address questions and/or issues that may arise in the field.
Complete work accurately and in accordance with engineering codes, ethical standards, and sound business practices;
Effectively communicate and coordinate with other team members;
Manage, coordinate, and communicate schedule and progress on multiple concurrent tasks;
Complete work on time and within budget;
Secure and manage successful, profitable projects;
Assist with the development of pursuit and delivery strategies;
Be energetic, self-directed and success-focused;
Support staff development through development, delegation, mentoring, recruitment, and evaluation.
Environment and Physical Requirements: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout an eight-hour period, reach vertically for overhead use as well as horizontally. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
