Epic Clinical Business Intelligence Developer

This position analyzes, provides specifications for, and writes individual reports for assigned clinical applications. Serves as the primary reporting resource, has responsibility for, and focuses on system support, maintenance, analysis, design, specifications documentation, change control, and versioning of all reporting components used to build and manage and perform multisystem Hospital clinical reporting. Defines report requirements; designs/develops/tests/installs/implements report based programs; report programming designs; and codes/tests/ debugs/documents system scripts, programs and reports in application, web and database environments. Responsible for validating model system reports and identifying advanced clinical reporting needs with report consumers. Meets with Epic application coordinators and report consumers to understand their reporting needs. May create new reports using a third-party report-writing tool, such as Crystal Reports, to display Clarity data.
Designs and documents the general functional requirements and detailed technical specifications for a report/database.
Assesses reporting needs to Epic customers through investigations, analysis and evaluation to create desired reports. Receives and documents formal requests from customer including specifications (layout, calculations, data source, etc.) Evaluates requests for completeness and if needed works with customer to finalize request.
Creates complex operational and project-related reports including analysis, design, documentation, versioning development, configuration, testing, implementation and ongoing support for Epic Clarity and Chronicles reports. Uses tools such as Reporting Workbench, Crystal Reports, and Business Objects Enterprise.
Maintains existing reports and analyzes/evaluates requirements for new modified reports/databases
Prepares detailed specifications, technical and user documentation from which reports, downloads, and extracts will be written. Ensures complete and accurate logical definition of data
Responsible for maintaining data integrity and the ongoing quality control of delivered reports. Validates system build/reports designs and performs audit and report findings of security and data controls.
Provides technical direction, guidance and assistance during project development and accomplish all required formal sign-offs
Investigates, resolves and performs follow-up tasks on system and related problems. Collaborates to seek resolution of system design conflicts for points of integration and communicates risk implications to team lead/project manager.
Implements reports/database software in an optimal manner to minimize the effect on production and development activities
Consults with and advise vendors and technical groups concerning the continued support of reports and databases
Recommends changes to established guidelines, standards, methodologies and conventions as appropriate
Assists customers with quality assurance (testing) and documentation of testing results through standard procedures and processes
Provides technical direction, guidance and assistance during project development and accomplish all required formal sign-offs. Participates in hardware and software selection, modification, and implementation.
Maintains related support tools, including database installation and testing programs and standards/procedures
Analyses, designs, documents, develops, tests, implements and maintains reporting user interfaces including alerts, prompts, screens, dashboards and templates.
Ensures test scenarios are adequately documented and perform testing as needed.
Prepares report management documentation to manage reports library, track project progress and reports problems in a timely fashion. Provides documentation and training to transfer knowledge and operational support to the EMR Reporting team.
Works within established guidelines, standards, methodologies and conventions for report writing and documentation. Recommends changes to established guidelines, standards, methodologies and conventions as appropriate
May utilize ITIL processes if present in the enterprise environment.
May be responsible for building:
Third-party tools (Xcelcius, WebI, QlickView, Explorer)

Safeguards protected health information from any intentional or unintentional disclosure in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Consults with and advise vendors and technical groups concerning the continued support of reports and databases
Participates in meetings with stakeholders from physician groups, nursing, ED, OB, hospital service departments, information systems, clinic operations, management, executive leadership and reporting. Document main points, issues and key decisions.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills by effectively working with other team members to identify and resolve problems with project workflow
Skills and Knowledge
Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the Epic data model and determine data structures that benefits the entire reporting environment.
Ability to build extensive knowledge of reporting programs and tools reports creation and maintenance including Epic Reporting Workbench, Epic Clarity, Chronicles, and Crystal Reporting writing.
In-depth knowledge and experience with relational database concepts and query tools. Sound knowledge of SQL tuning and data extraction methodologies. Ability to use OLAP and OLTP technologies along with knowledge of data warehouses/data stores and data marts to execute SQL query techniques.
Strong background in programming, systems analysis, design and problem solving.
Ability to translate user requirements into functional & design specifications, communicate with report consumers to gather specifications, review designs, present drafts, and validate results.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of hospital operations, procedures/functions and the relationships between them.
Demonstrates the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with the project team, and key clinical stakeholders, including business services, nurses and physicians. Works closely and collaboratively with other project team members including business and clinical leaders.
Participates and sometimes facilitates building, planning and problem solving discussions with project teams, clinicians, and leadership.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with reports, including reviewing code and database issues.
Experience with business or clinical computer systems in the areas of data/information warehousing data and reporting of such data required. Solid understanding of computer systems, interfaces, software, and IT functions.
Experience organizing and running multiple projects required.
Can provide regular status updates to project lead/manager.
Strong organization, analysis and problem solving skills required, with an emphasis on attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience with Microsoft Office required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Administration or Health Information Management, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of additional related experience may be substituted in lieu of educational requirement.
4 or more years professional healthcare/hospital experience with business systems report writing experience.
3 years or more experience with requirements definition of clinical reporting needs, systems analysis, SDLC, developing a test plan and executing test scenarios to validate data in reports. Solid technical/database experience.
Experience with Epic clinical reporting. 1 year of experience designing, building, testing and supporting Epic Clarity reports for the clinical applications/end users. Epic Clarity certification highly preferred. Experience with various Epic modules, especially inpatient, hospital billing, HIM, ASAP, Epic Inpatient and Epic Ambulatory. Meaningful Use, Core Measures, and other quality measures reporting a plus.
Experience with the following is required or highly desirable: Reporting Workbench, Business Objects Crystal Reports (Version 2008, XI or 10), Business Objects Enterprise, Business Objects Xcelsius. Experience writing complex reports in Crystal, writing stored procedures to be used in conjunction with Crystal.
3 or more years demonstrated expertise with relational database concepts and query tools including data management practices, logical data design and data modeling. Sound knowledge of SQL and data extraction methodologies. In depth training and expertise with some of the following: OLAP, Oracle, SQL Server, T-SQL, PLSQL,XML, HTML, Teradata database programming, SQL query tools.
Must be customer focused, results-oriented, flexible and adaptable. Ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels to communicate reporting needs and understand business requirements. Must be able to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence and have the ability to resolve conflict and manage conflicting priorities.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
