Director, Global Public Partnerships

Conservation International (CI) is seeking a Director of Global Public Partnerships to act as a fundraising and outreach expert to develop innovative approaches in order to access new types of funding for CI. Based in CI-Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia and reporting to the Vice President, Global Partnerships and Managing Director of CI-Europe, the Director, Global Public Partnerships is responsible for providing strategic direction in spearheading expansion of CI's public donor network through engagement in policy implementation and priority setting discussions with public donors. S/he ensures that CI's work is presented accurately and effectively communicated to governments, donors and key stakeholders to ensure strategic and sustainable partnerships. S/he works in collaboration with CI's development and strategic teams as well as technical, operational, finance and legal units to guide and facilitate multi-divisional proposals, ensuring that public funding goals are set and strategic direction to partnership development and fundraising from public donors is provided. This position works closely with and substitutes for the Europe-based lead for Public Partnerships to CI leadership teams, acting as a liaison for VIP public funders in Washington, DC. This position coordinates the overall relationship and leads on policy engagement with the World Bank and develops engagement strategies for non-US public funders and coordinates outreach from CI leadership. S/he is responsible for the overall partnership development and outreach to bilateral and multilateral institutions. RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising Development and Coordination: Work at the highest level with CI's Regional Teams, Strategy Teams & Development in order to guarantee alignment Lead the co-ordination with other parts of CI's public funding units including US Government Funding, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Implementing Agency. Represent public funding on CI's Campaign Leadership Team as appropriate Facilitate exchange between US, Europe, Asia, Americas in order to prioritize and focus Represent on/to CI Leadership teams in order to determine priority Guide and facilitate multi-divisional proposals (with relevant teams) Maintain key institutional partnerships and provide technical support to all programs in donor approach, proposal development and proposal submission. Develop innovative approaches (blended finance, public-private partnerships, emerging donors, global vertical funds, etc.) to access new funding. Develop and maintain relationships with multilateral funders in the US and globally Facilitate exchange between CI teams in US, Europe, Asia, and Americas in order to prioritize and focus Outreach and Advocacy: Working with Vice President, Global Public Partnerships and Managing Director of CI-Europe, develop high level strategic relationships with all relevant public funding entities (multi and bi-lateral) to: develop long-term strategies with multilateral, bilateral and regional entities deemed of highest strategic value develop relationships with key US and European contract firms guide and facilitate multi-divisional proposals (with relevant teams) Engage and coordinate the overall relationship with the World Bank, leading on key policy engagements that impact CI's objectives. Expand existing relations and develop new relations with bilateral and multilateral institutions with the aim to ultimately increase the public funding support to CI's programs, including the GCF, GEF, US Government, CI-Japan, the African Development Bank, etc. Act as liaison for VIP public funders in the Washington, DC area. Develop engagement strategies for non-US public funders and coordinate outreach from CI Leadership. Lead the launch/kick-off meetings for funded non-US Government public proposals Travel internationally in support of fundraising and partnership development strategies with public entities. This position will represent the VP and Managing Director in meetings, projects, and with CI leadership as designates and will have the authority to make decisions regarding the management of the organization's resources within the approved budget and work plan. Other duties as assigned by supervisor WORKING CONDITIONS This position is based in CI-Headquarters in Arlington, VA Normal office environment Up to 35% international travel is required QUALIFICATIONS Required Master's Degree or higher education in environmental science or natural resource management 7+ years professional progressive experience including managing, implementing and assessing publicly funded natural resource management and/or international development projects in developing countries Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Proven skills in problem solving and change management. Proven ability to engage with a variety of external partners and key stakeholders at senior decision-making levels in governments, bilateral and multilateral institutions, development organizations and NGOs Proven ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies network, developing and managing high-level partnerships with government agencies. Proven ability to design and prepare quality proposals that meet donor interests. Track record in project formulation of natural resources management and international development projects Work experience in both global conservation and international development sector. Advanced analytical and strategic thinking skills due to high level of job complexity and responsibility Extensive knowledge and understanding of international policies related to biodiversity, climate change, natural resource management, poverty alleviation and international development. Expert understanding of current global scale trends and practices in major disciplines of global change and biodiversity conservation, ecosystem management, economic development and policy, agriculture and trade, environment and health, and natural resource management. Strong leadership and visionary capability, including evidence of working with multidisciplinary teams in a non-hierarchical manner. Proven ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and to meet deadlines and manage time and diverse activities. Proven capacity to interact as a constructive team player in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments. Ability to work under pressure and deadlines without compromising working standards and high quality results. Ability to change approaches as necessary and respond accordingly to changes in the global environment. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
