Overview
HNTB is looking for a Senior Project Manager experienced in leading teams in the execution of site/civil engineering design services for projects focusing on military and related U.S. Federal Installations. The position will be located in the HNTB Arlington, Virginia office. The selected candidate will plan, direct and manage a large team of civil engineers and other professional staff in preparing plans and specifications that integrate site grading, roadway, utilities, storm drainage, and architecture and landscape architecture site improvements. The selected candidate will hold a prominent position on project leadership teams and will represent all engineering matters in a coordinated interdisciplinary delivery environment.
Responsibilities
Site/Civil Engineering Design Expertise - Demonstrated strong background and technical proficiency in site/civil engineering design assignments.
Project Leadership - Demonstrated experience serving in a senior task lead, Deputy Project Manager, or Project Manager role as part of a large project leadership team. On a given project, this person will serve as the Project Manager/Deputy Project Manager for all engineering design disciplines which typically represent a significant portion of overall work effort.
Design Leadership - Provide senior level technical expertise on all project aspects associated with conceptual engineering, presentations, detailed engineering design, and preparation of contracts for construction. Responsible for ensuring completeness and accuracy of work prepared by a design team.
Design Management - Experience in managing the execution of large engineering design assignments ($10M+ in engineering fees) executed by interdisciplinary civil engineering teams and in coordination with architecture and landscape architecture disciplines. Responsible for engineering staff resource scheduling, development of budgets, and staff development. Provide cost control on project and quality control within the discipline.
Communications - Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interface with internal team members and external entities including the contracting agency, owner and key stakeholder groups.
Collaboration - Demonstrated capabilities in leveraging the strengths and talents of a large team of civil engineers including local office assets of the firm, assets from other offices and assets from subconsultants, many based in locations other than the primary job site.
National Capital Region (NCR) Experience - Has demonstrated success in working through challenging, multi-party stakeholder and team issues on the execution of civil/site design projects in the NCR. Understands the 'context sensitivity' of working in and around U.S. Federal installations.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited curriculum
At least 16 years of civil engineering experience, with at least seven years of experience acting in responsible charge of engineering design work products
Professional Engineer License required, or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months of employment
Project Management Professional Certification desired
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation preferred
Experience with SpecsIntact preferred
Experience with site development design and construction drawing preparation with a focus on leading the integration of grading, paving, utilities, and storm drainage engineers
Experience in working on USACE projects and understanding of MILCON site development requirements
Experience with DoD standards and requirements including use of Uniform Facility Criteria (UFC) standards and use of Uniform Facility Guide Specs (UFGS) as applied to civil engineering projects
Work well in a team structure including leading and collaborating with multidisciplined professionals both within and outside the firm
Strong communication skills in dealing with clients and peers
Located in the NCR; Relocation benefits will be considered for candidates located outside the National Capital Region
Experience in executing site/civil engineering design assignments for USACE projects in the NCR is preferred
LEED or Envision Certification is desirable, but not required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
