Malware Analyst

The selected candidate will provide onsite support to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness program (US-CERT) responsible for analyzing and reducing cyber threats and vulnerabilities, disseminating cyber threat warning information, and coordinating incident response activities. US CERT provides advanced network and digital media analysis expertise and defends against malicious activity targeting networks within the United States and abroad.
The responsibilities of the selected malware analyst candidate may include the following: Identify and develop enhancement opportunities while investigating and reporting on Cyber policy trends and issues; Review and evaluate cyber policy directives; Conduct research on emerging cyber threats, methods, processes, cyber warfare techniques and offensive capabilities; Provide support to an enhance Cyber requirements analysis and tracking process; Resolve malware and intrusion issues using computer host analysis, forensics, and reverse engineering; Discover, analyze, diagnose, and report on malware events, files and network intrusion and vulnerability issues; Recommend counter measures to malware and other malicious type code and applications that exploit customer communication systems; Conduct reverse engineering for known and suspected malware files; Develop analysis and recommend hardware or software tools or solutions to mitigate malware intrusions; Refine and develop policies and procedures to related to malware incidents; Assist in the development and delivery of malware security awareness products and briefings.
Candidate preference to shift will be considered. Shifts are defined as follows:
Shift 1: Mon - Fri, 6:00AM - 2:30PM
Shift 2: Mon - Fri, 2:00PM - 10:30PM
Shift 3: Mon - Fri, 10:00PM - 6:30AM
Shift 4: Sat and Sun, 6:00AM - 6:30PM, plus two (2) eight-hour weekday shifts
Shift 5: Sat 6:00PM - Sun 6:30AM and Sun 6:00 PM - Mon 6:30 AM, plus two (2) eight-hour weekday shifts
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's Degree required for positions above entry level; Hands-on experience in reverse engineering. Debugging and Debugger experience using tools such as: ollydbg, windbg, and immunitydg; dissassembling/dissassemblers experience using IDA Pro . Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to work independently and with a group;
Possess excellent problem solving and organizational skills. Must have an active Clearance with a current investigation and eligible for upgrade. Must be able to obtain a DHS Suitability Clearance
Preferred Skills and Education
Current DHS Suitability; Current Clearance with upgrade eligibility; CISSP certification or other Cyber Security Certifications; Industry certifications (MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, ISC, CAP); Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
