Job Description
We are currently offering a great opportunity for a Senior Quality Assurance Manager to be based out of our Charlotte, NC Corporate Headquarters of Compass Group North America. Our Charlotte offices are also the Corporate Headquarters of the key-contacts group this position primarily works with on a daily basis ? Foodbuy, which is the foodservice industry?s leading Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) focused on lowering purchasing and product costs for foodservice organizations.
This is an exceptional employment opportunity with growth potential for an experienced and ambitious product safety and quality assurance professional seeking a position that requires contribution to department and organizational objectives at both the hands-on technical and strategic leadership levels.
Key Accountabilities:
+ Dynamic support of procurement programs and processes in pursuit of provision of the safest and highest quality product possible to our operations and clients and customers.
+ Retention and deployment of qualified quality assurance and food safety professionals to achieve ?best in class? supplier and product qualification through the application of regulatory requirements, industry practice, and sound science and technology, consistently and collaboratively with all stakeholders ? procurement, operations, and suppliers.
+ Alignment of QA programs and processes with Compass Group Supply Chain Integrity Global Standards, and their incremental advancement.
+ Supplier standards and critical safety and quality criteria for key products and product categories; oversight of assessment of supplier and product conformance accordingly.
+ Direct activities of team of Quality Assurance Managers and Coordinators to ensure that all suppliers and products meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, as well as stakeholder expectations.
+ Advancement of supplier risk mapping and tiered approval processes and programs.
+ Technical support of product specification management and product conformance testing program. Oversight of accredited laboratory partners and programs.
+ Coordination of monitoring and response to product recalls, market withdrawals, and other alerts/advisories.
+ Collaborate closely with internal and external prepared fresh ready to eat food suppliers.
+ Contracted manufacturer recall and preventive action reporting to QA.
+ Validation of supplier traceability and recall effectiveness.
+ Crisis management leadership.
+ Issue investigation process with emphasis on containment, root cause determination, actions to prevent recurrence, escalation of trends, and establishment of efficiencies.
+ Ensure all suppliers meet all food quality and safety requirements including GFSI, FSMA, microbiological, GMP, specification, allergens, HACCP/HARPC, nutrition, bioterrorism and other emerging issues.
+ Technical support of product review and sourcing events, as well as proprietary product, wholesaling, and other strategic procurement and business initiatives.
+ Standardization of QA criteria for supplier visit and assessment.
+ Evaluation and approval of audit providers. Periodic validation of third-party audit results.
+ Advance standards, training, compliance monitoring, and risk communication associated with internal production centers.
+ Technical research.
+ Standardization of supplier and buyer training opportunities.
+ Monitoring of regulatory and industry landscapes for changes, issues, and advancements pertinent to Compass Group/Foodbuy supply chain and products.
+ Advance, execute, and communicate supply chain integrity plans, programs, procedures, metrics, results, risks, opportunities, and related information to appropriate leadership and stakeholders, routinely, upon request, and ad hoc.
+ Establish efficiencies, initiatives, and strategies to optimize the contribution of internal and external resources to the assurance of product safety and quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ B.S. degree in food science, food microbiology, or equivalent curriculum required.
+ M.S. degree preferred.
+ At least 10-15 years of directly related experience required.
+ A minimum of 5 years of experience in a food safety/QA management position overseeing a technical staff.
+ Ideal candidate will have combined experience in the areas of food safety and quality assurance with a manufacturer/processor and vendor certification with a foodservice or retail food company.
+ GFSI scheme understanding and application.
+ Prepared fresh ready to eat food supplier experience a plus.
+ Private-label and/or proprietary product management experience is necessary.
+ Technical competence and confidence is critical, as is intellectual curiosity.
+ Must be a very strong, persuasive communicator and coach, with the ability to relate to non-technical professionals and peers. Aptitude for interpretation and translation of science, technology, and regulatory affairs in accordance with audience.
+ Analytical and strategic thinking is essential. Ability to apply principles and practices of disciplines to support of varying business needs.
+ Ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work and attention to long-term goals against a backdrop of frequent emerging concerns, urgencies, and business-critical priorities.
+ Ability to function effectively within a fast-paced and evolving corporate culture is necessary.
+ Travel is required; estimated at 50% to 65%

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
