Receptionist, Patient Relations

Temporary Full-Time (November-March)
Purpose and Scope:
As department receptionist, will answer telephones and refer callers as appropriate, or provide general information. Greets all incoming visitors, and employees and assists as needed.
The Receptionist has frontline responsibility for handling customer service interactions and administrative support to the department. In this capacity, the function of receptionist is also incorporated to include daily operational tasks, computerized record-keeping, filing, and general office management activities.
Specific responsibilities include:
Helping all patients, family members, employees, and others in a friendly manner, usually over telephone or email
Referring callers to the appropriate departments
Assists with the management of the volunteer program:
Completes volunteer packages
Sets up interviews, orientation for volunteers
Record keeping, communication with volunteers
Assists with the management of the interpretive services program:
Maintains accurate internal information about interpreter resources
Maintains and tracks equipment
Record keeping, billing
Orders departmental supplies
Compiles monthly reports as requested
Assists with scheduling meetings as requested
I. Qualifications
Educations: High School diploma or undergraduate work preferred.
Experience: Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people. Must be able to maintain composure and handle stress in a busy office atmosphere. Must be able to represent the hospital and the Patient Relations Department to all employees and visitors in a professional and friendly manner at all times. Prior office/clerical experience preferred. Typing skills required. Experience with Microsoft Office, Power Point, Word and, Excel, etc., required. bilingual in Spanish considered a plus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
