Training & Quality Assurance Specialist (part-time)

Are you looking for a position where you can have an impact on members of the community served by the Department of Human Services (DHS)? The Aging and Disability Services Division within DHS is seeking a part-time Training and Quality Assurance Specialist as part of the Quality and Development Unit. This team supports older adults and persons with disabilities through an array of community-based services, including case management, nursing, mental health, information and referral, and in-home care. The employee will provide quality assurance and improvement guidance including clinical chart reviews, program audits, and monitoring of clinical documentation for HIPAA compliance. This employee will also be responsible for coordinating performance measure plans; organizing staff training and development; and assisting with research and data analysis on human services.
Specific duties will include:
Reviewing the clinical work of social workers, counselors, nurses, and human service clinicians to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and internal best practices;
Conducting quality assurance activities, such as HIPAA compliance reviews and program monitoring activities;
Working with the Supervisor and Clinical Managers to conduct pre-audit and post-audit activities, such as reviewing charts, developing corrective action plans and work plans, ensuring timelines are achieved, and identifying systems or process issues;
Reviewing quality assurance plans of the clinical programs and tracking implementation;
Coordinating the development of new Performance Measurement Plans and updating existing plans;
Staying current on state, local, and federal regulations and updating Division policies and procedures; and
Supporting and organizing staff training.
Selection Criteria:Minimum: Bachelor's degree in related fields such as social work, psychology, gerontology, public health or a similar field and one year of experience working in human services with experience in quality assurance activities, clinical documentation, or auditing clinical records for compliance. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required, specifically Excel expertise.
Substitution: Additional directly related experience can substitute for the education requirements on a year for year basis.
Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following experience:
Designing and delivering training;
Monitoring programs and performance measures; and/or
Working with senior adult/geriatric clients or individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Special Requirements:A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. The applicant must possess, or obtain by the time of appointment; a valid motor vehicle operator's license from the applicant's place of residence or the applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at locations other than the primary worksite. If the applicant possesses or acquires a license, the applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or the applicant must provide a copy of the applicant's official state/district driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant's driving record. The applicant will be required to provide police clearance records upon final consideration for employment. A Microsoft Office skills assessment may be administered.
Additional Information:Work hours are 20 hours per week. A regular schedule will be determined with Supervisor and occur during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
