Job Description
As a member of the SQL engineering team you will build, configure, Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems for various projects.
Configure and maintain database servers and processes in a CLUSTERED environment, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability and security.
Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
Independently analyze, solve and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end for the various projects
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues and document changes
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
Be proactive in securing the systems from time to time to conform to DISA's STIG requirements.
Identify data requirements by working with variety of internal and external stakeholders to understand, assess, and provide solutions for the program's IT and data requirements.
Ensure database quality, maintain data availability, integrity and security including
changes required when DoD IT requirements change.
Secure, test, revise, and protect database by developing system access, specifying user level of access, and backing up database.
Troubleshoot and correct internal and external end-user technical issues encountered while interacting with the program's IT systems.
Support release deployment activities after hours based on project requirements.
Share domain and technical expertise with other peers and team members.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field or equivalent experience. Should possess Comp TIA SECURITY + certification.
Qualifications
5-8 years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.
4+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience required
Hands on experience with installation / configuration and maintenance of MSSQL2012/ MSSQL 2014 clusters in a medium / large organization
Good Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with the different project groups and customers
Flexible, team player, "get-it-done" personality
Ability to organize and plan work independently
Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
Must have excellent communication skills (oral and writing). May interact with the gov't customer and senior government leadership leaders at the highest levels, prefer those who have experience and skills in this area.
Education: B.A. or B.S. degree required. Unique requirements: Minimum SECRET clearance (Interim) required. Past experience in Pentagon/DoD environment preferred, experience with JSP, OSD WHS EITSD Pentagon customer also highly desired. Secret clearance required. Must be 8570 Compliant on day 1 (Security+ CE, CISSP or like certification meeting security minimum requirement). The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
