LAN Administrator (El Salvador)
PAE is seeking a LAN Administrator in El Salvador. The LAN Administrator shall manage and administer the facilities network to include network server and peripherals, electronic mail server, network architecture, TCPIP, data communications, etc, as well as manage the PAE Information Technology team.
Duties shall include but are not limited to the following:
Maintenance services for two WAN/LANs (one classified and one unclassified), approximately 120 computer user workstations, one WAN/LAN server and associate components and equipment. Manage and administer the facilities network to include network server and peripherals, electronic mail server, network architecture, TCPIP, data communications, etc.
Implement, manage and troubleshoot the Local Area Network (LAN) including but not limited to:
Perform system backup
Ensure each LAN is up and available during normal working hours
Troubleshoots network, systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties
Document network problems and resolutions for the future reference
Repair on a component level and advise others on proper maintenance as required
Perform/Document semi-annual and annual inventory of LAN hardware and software
Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability
Deter and report unauthorized entry in LAN
Maintain security of the LANs and implement IAVA compliance requests in accordance with NAVCYBERDEFOPSCOM policy
Create/Maintain user accounts
Create scripts to facilitate network upgrades, security updates and installs
Maintain virus protection and firewalls
Monitor and correct Forefront Proxy, SNORT McAfee IDS/IPS, Retina eEye Digital security and McAfee ePO suite vulnerabilities
Review and make recommendations on existing server configurations
Review and make recommendations on procurement of computer, network hardware, peripheral equipment and software, draft statements of work
Coordinate the procurement and installation of new computer hardware and software
Coordinate the installation of software patches and upgrades
Train users on LAN operations and provide technical resource support
Provide customer desktop support for LAN users
Investigate user's problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions
Develops, document and implement system standards and procedures. Monitor to assure user adherence
Maintain/Document site licenses
Manage/Document retirement and disposal of obsolete or broken equipment.
Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network
Design, engineer and install network cabling
Engineer and implement equipment reallocations
Provide PC maintenance
Provide hardware maintenance review on computer equipment
Provide system communications assistance
Provide comprehensive Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications Systems (JWICS) support.
Responsible for imaging software (COTS, GOTS, JOTS or JWIC operations)
Provide system communications assistance to external network connections
Work with associated cryptographic equipment
Provide web page development and maintenance
Meet DoD Directive 8570.01 requirements
Other duties as assigned
The LAN Administrator shall obtain a Secret security clearance, be able to obtain a favorable SSBI investigation and shall have a minimum 5 years of LAN server/network experience with the latest Windows technologies in a DoD 8500 policy accredited environment. LAN Administrator must possess in depth knowledge of network architectures, topologies and IP protocols; knowledge of Events logs, Windows Scripting, of SNMP, DHCP, DNS/BIND and Unix, AD and Linux, Forefront Proxy server, SNORT IDS/IPS, CISCO and Extreme Networks routers/switches, McAfee HBSS Suite, Symantec Product Suite (such as Backup Exec, Ghost and SMTP Gateway), Firewalls, Surf control filter, Events logs administrator, Websense Suite, tumbleweed, Office 2010 Products, Adobe Product Suite, retina Eye Digital security, Active client software, blackberry Enterprises Server/Smartphone, Extreme Network Systems experience, Windows Security Update Server (WSUS) photo shop, Windows SMS, Lumos ADT and all security software approved by the DoD. MCSE 2003 or greater Certification and CompTIA Security+CE or DoD 8570.01 equivalent certificates are required.
Candidates must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills, must be proactive, be able to supervise and lead a small team of technicians, communicate effectively with the customer and PAE leadership, anticipate customer needs and have strong organization skills.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
