Director, Development Operations

Description/Job Summary

We operate USO centers at or near military installations across the United States and throughout the world, including in combat zones, and even un-staffed USO service sites in places too dangerous for anyone but combat troops to occupy.
The Director, Development Operations is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the operations, systems and processes that support the USO's fundraising and development efforts.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities ( Essential Duties)
Oversee all aspects of input and organization of donor data into the database of record. Ensure data discipline across all USO Development channels. Serve as departmental point-of-contact for data needs and processes as well as database storage and migration.
Manage USO donor service operations including but not limited to management of internal donor service staff and external call center with a focus on proactive communication strategies that enhance the donor experience.
Design and execute comprehensive stewardship plans to inspire new and existing donors, foster loyalty and result in increased lifetime value. Coordinate with internal Programs, Operations, Marketing and Finance staff to ensure donor impact is considered and represented in a compelling and accurate manner.
Oversee and manage staff responsible for creating proposals and completing grant applications for corporations, foundations and major donors.
Coordinate with direct mail and online fundraising channel owners to ensure donor operations and stewardship is properly integrated into campaign planning.
Oversee data-driven research to support cultivation of Corporate and Major Donor prospects and other potential supporters.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field.
5+ years work experience in a fundraising or sales management role, including 3 years in a supervisory capacity. Relevant experience in a non-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.
In-depth knowledge of constituent management database systems and capabilities. Ability to query, export and convert large datasets into actionable insight.
General understanding of call center operations with emphasis on direct response customer and donor needs.
Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams. Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment related to controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and poise.
Working knowledge of basic business and accounting functions including project management and budgeting.
Demonstrated initiative/self-motivation, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment. Working knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser's Edge.
Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver's license.

This position is located in Arlington, VA. Preference will be given to local candidates within commuting distance to the location.
Relocation assistance is not provided for this position.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
