Subject Matter Expert Intermediate - SoS/FoS Engineering - 1849

Job Description
As a member of the ODASD SE technical staff and working closely with the Director, Engineering Enterprise, support System of System (SoS) and Family of Systems (FoS) engineering on all major DoD programs to help program managers identify and mitigate risks, shape technical planning and management, support and advocate for DoD Component engineering initiatives, provide insight to OSD stakeholders, and identify system engineering issues for resolution above the program level.
Clearance: SECRET or Higher
Location: National Capital Region (Pentagon and Mark Center). Travel may be required. Telework is not permitted.
Type: Professional, Exempt, Salaried
Work Environment: Onsite at customer location; nominally 8 hours per day Monday through Friday during the business hours of 0730-1630 but may require additional hours on short notice to support stringent schedules and respond to urgent needs. Federal Holidays are observed. Environment requires working collaboratively with other Program staff members and external stakeholders and organizations including ranking DoD Civilian and Military personnel.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum 5 years (10 years preferred) applicable experience in an Engineering, Scientific, Analysis, or field related to major Department of Defense programs.
Duties
Systems Engineering Oversight of Major DoD Space Programs to shape acquisition solutions, promote early technical planning, promote the application of sound SoS/FoS systems engineering and related technical disciplines across the Department's acquisition community and programs, and raise awareness of the importance of effective SoS/FoS engineering, provide technical insights and drive the state-of-the-practice into program planning and execution. There is a need for systems engineering to support the engineering of SoS at a mission, enterprise, or portfolio level. The challenges posed by SoS for SE is a topic of growing interest across the SE community in industry, academia, and government.
Evaluate SE and development planning on MDAPs and other programs affecting MDAPs for family of systems (FoS) and system of systems (SoS) solutions
Work with representatives of the ASD(R&E)/Director, Joint Support, Portfolio Managers and Systems Acquisition / Capability Offices and the Joint Staff Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process as documented in the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Instruction CJCSI 3170.01F.
Provide flexible, user- configurable database tools and experienced analytical capability to enable cross system, system of system and family of system analysis of component systems, capabilities, and organizations. These efforts support DABs and ITABs and are documented in Capability Area Roadmaps
Develop SE SoS Guidance and assist the DASD(SE) in overseeing its implementation. As the Department recognizes SoS solutions are required to meet capability needs and developing investment approaches.
Support addressing these challenges through the development, piloting, and roll-out of a guide for SoS SE and education and training materials
Review new and changed policies for impacts on SoS and SE, and conduct studies on the current state of SoS and critical areas for additional investigation.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
