MultiLingual Solutions (MLS), is currently accepting resumes for a Distance Learning Mentor Position to work on a government contract.
Duties:
At the determination of the COR, ACOR, or GTM, attend, either virtually or in-person:
pre-semester orientations and mentor meetings (usually bi-weekly)In-service staff development and orientation activities, including delivering presentations or facilitating workshops.
Language section and other meetings as requested by the GTM.
Obtain necessary computer system application and /or site access, including access to FSI's LearningManagement System and Distance Learning Share-Point sites.
Mentoring sessions may be conducted outside of normal FSI business hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, to accommodate students in other time zones.
Mentors should use established training materials.
With guidance from the COR, ACOR, and/or GTM work collaboratively on training, content development, and/or assessment matters with Distance Learning staff and other Mentors.
Send group communications to students at the beginning of the course, the end of the course, and as needed during the semester/term.
Schedule and conduct mentoring and make-up sessions with students:
Mentors will schedule weekly 45 minute mentoring sessions (including make-up sessions) with each student, and keep the schedules on a restricted calendar that is available to those working with theDistance Learning Program.
Conduct weekly 45 minute mentoring sessions with each assigned distance learning student.
Sessions will primarily be conducted using video conferencing applications such as, but not limited to, Skype, Google Hangouts, Zoom, and Adobe Connect.
Sessions may also be conducted via telephone in the event that video conferencing is not a viable option.
During the mentoring sessions, Mentors will assess student progress, answer student questions, and provide speaking practice.
Sessions may also make use of instant messaging, whiteboard, screen sharing, and file sharing tools that are available in most video conferencing applications.
Document student attendance, performance, feedback, assessments, course assignments and objectives:
Mentors will keep detailed notes of each mentoring session and will update individual studentrecords to track their attendance, completion of assignments and course objectives, and provide feedback on their progress.
Updates to completion of assignments and course objectives, and feedback on student progress should be logged in the learning management system on a weekly basis and/or within 48 hours of when each mentoring session takes place.
Report to the Distance Learning Staff as soon as possible a student's failure to meet course participation requirements and/or a student's decision to end their participation in their course.
Mentors should make Distance Learning staff aware of unprofessional behavior on the part of a student or any other problems the Mentor experiences with a student.
Any notes on the student shall be maintained in secure location agreed to by the Distance Learning staff.
All notes must be available to Distance Learning staff, the COR, ACOR, or GTM, the Language Training Supervisors (LTS) and the Training Specialist (TS) upon request.
Monitor state.
gov email on a daily basis and respond to all requests from students and Distance Learning staff promptly.
Maintain a space within FSI's learning management system for each of the courses they work with.
This may require providing a welcome letter, uploading supplementary materials for students, posting course weekly announcements, and monitoring online forum discussion board posts.
Informally assess student's language proficiency level to determine the most suitable course or group within a course.
Mentors should collaborate with the COR, ACOR, and/or GTM, as needed and appropriate, on best practices for informal assessment of student progress proficiency level.
Report any technical problems with systems used in Distance Learning courses as soon as possible to the Distance Learning staff.
In collaboration with the COR, ACOR, and/or GTM, Distance Learning Coordinator and/or Distance LearningSpecialist, provide supplementary materials to students as needed or requested.
These materials should be based on sound teaching methods and the needs of distance learning students.
Copies of the materials must also be provided to Distance Learning Staff, the LTS, and the COR, ACOR, or GTM upon request.
Collaborate with the COR, ACOR, or GTM on and execute single-handedly or as a part of a team assigned tasks related to the development or revision of distance language learning course curriculum, language training materials, or SLS-relevant reference materials, including but not limited to text, audio, video, and technology based media.
All materials become the property of the United States Government, and the Contractor may not copy or reproduce them in any way for use outside of an FSI class, share them by any means outside of FSI, or publish them in any way without the express permission of the Government.
Record audio or video materials as assigned.
As required by the COR, ACOR, and/or GTM, follow techniques, methodologies, and approaches that are deemed best instructional practices.
RequirementsBS/BA or MS/MA, or foreign equivalent degree in any field.
Experience developing foreign language instructional materials and/or curricula preferred.
Experience teaching with the communicative approach preferred.
Experience incorporating a range of educational technology in teaching preferred.
Experience teaching blended learning activities valued.
Experience teaching with task-based learning materials valued.
Experience teaching with vocabulary-based language learning materials valued.
Experience delivering training targeted to the needs of the diplomatic community valued.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
