To Whom It May Concern:

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alexandria Blackmon, and I finished my
Master’s of Science degree as an Adult & Gerontology Nurse Practitioner
with a minor in Acute Care at the University of Pennsylvania; and also
successfully completed the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Examination. I am writing this letter to express my interest in working at
Health Care Institution as a Nurse Practitioner. I am confident that my
combination of practical work experience and solid educational experience has
prepared me for making an immediate contribution to your Institution. I am
enclosing my resume as a first step in exploring the possibility of employment.
I am also very willing to relocate for this position.

I currently work at the Salisbury VAMC in Compensation and Pension dealing with
Service Connection for Vet’s.  I also
worked 2 years in Home Base Primary Care dealing with end of life issues and
the geriatric population.  For over five
years I have been performing gastrointestinal procedure and the most recent
experience has been working as a Gastrointestinal Procedure Nurse practitioner
at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VAMC)-Minneapolis performing
paracentesis and flexible sigmoidoscopies.  I also worked with GI Surgery-Gastric
Bypass, Hernia repairs and other GI surgical procedures for the last four years
previous to the VAMC at the University of Minnesota Physician's. I am also an
active member of ASBS. I have had the opportunity of working in many different
clinical areas; for which I was able to provide screening, management and
treatment for various patients illness including: Vascular Surgery,
Cardiopulmonary, DM, dementia, vertigo, Othro., Oncology/ Hematology,
infectious diseases such as Hep.B, HD, PD, TB, CF and HIV, both inpatient and
clinic based. I am also confident in my clinical skills and decision-making
abilities.

In addition, while at the University of Pennsylvania I worked as a Research
Assistant, collecting and evaluating data for the Frail Elder Quality of Life
study. During this time I received the American Association of Critical Care
Nurses, Septa Research Poster Presentation Award for a post and paper on
Carotid Endartectomy V’s Carotid Angioplasty with Stenting. I have also had the
honor of being told by my clinical preceptor that my strengths are having a
delightful rapport with my patients, performing accurate comprehensive physical
examinations and diagnosis, as well as being able to balance my professionalism
with my compassion. It is my hope that my professional, as well as, academic
experiences display a devotion to working in the field of medicine and becoming
an asset to your Institution. Thank you immensely for reviewing my credentials
and look forward to hearing from you soon. My resume is enclosed for your
consideration.

Cordially,

Alexandria Blackmon, MSN, CRNP
